CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison) O God, our Gospel lesson this morning talks about peace. If truth be told, we often don’t seek peace by solely relying on your son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. We try to find peace through our recreational pursuits, or through our family, or by taking a long walk to “clear our heads.” Help us this day and each day to look to Jesus for the true peace that is not of this world. May we al-ways seek the “peace that passes our under-standing.” Amen. WORDS OF ASSURANCE Leader: Christ died for us, the just for the unjust. People: In his blood is our peace.
Leader: There are mysteries in this beyond understanding. People: God will heal our brokenness and set us in the right direction. Leader: Be assured that God, for Christ’s sake, has forgiven us. People: Thanks be to God. Amen. *HYMN Screen

And then, when you pray, don’t be like the play-actors. They love to stand and pray
in the synagogues and at street-corners so that people may see them at it. Believe me,
they have had all the reward they are going to get. But when you pray, go into your
own room, shut your door and pray to God privately.
Matthew 6:6 (J.B. Phillip’s Translation)
