Father’s Day Breakfast

Thank you to everyone who attended our Father’s Day Breakfast this morning. Despite the miserable weather a great morning was had by all. I would like to make a few specific thankyou’s to people who helped make the morning a success. Firstly to our P&C volunteers who coordinated the Father’s Day stall. I am sure all our Father’s will appreciate their gifts on Sunday morning. A big thank you also to Mrs McVey for coordinating our breakfast and all the staff who showed off their Barbequing skills . I would also like to acknowledge Mrs Whatman, who once again donated a beautifully designed blanket and apron to raffle off to one lucky Dad. Mrs Whatman also donated some brand new GEPS aprons for our staff to use when cooking the BBQ . Thanks so much.

I would also like to thank both Coles and Woolworths Glendale for their kind contribution to our Father’s Day Breakfast. The lovely fresh food was appreciated by all.

Kindergarten 2020

A reminder that we are still taking enrolments for Kindergarten 2020. If you know someone who lives in our school zone with a child starting school next year, please remind them to contact the school. A flyer with more information about transition is contained in this newsletter.

SASS Appreciation Week This week is SASS Appreciation Week. This is a week where we recognise all the hard work our front office staff, SLSO’s and groundskeepers do to keep our school running. A lot of the time their work happens behind the scenes but I can assure everybody that our SASS staff do an amazing job in supporting our students, families and teachers in making sure they experience success at school. P&C Meeting

Our next P&C Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 11th September. The P&C executive have decided to use this meeting as an opportunity to discuss the current canteen situation and seek contributions from it’s mem-bers in how to improve on this important service for our students. I encourage all parents who would like more information on the canteen situation and who would like to constructively contribute to its operation to attend the meeting. I am sure that at the conclusion of the meeting we will be able to settle on a positive out-come for all. Have a great fortnight Nathan Forbes Principal

The students from Stage 3 recently undertook an educational tour of the national capital. They were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government will contribute $20 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program toward these costs. The rebate will be paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion and has already been deducted from the overall cost to parents. We would also like to thank the wider school community for their support in assisting with the Stage 3 fundraising BBQ and cake stall. The students had a wonderful time and were a credit to both their families and our school. While most students declared that their favourite experience was the snow, a close second was their visit to Parliament House and the Australian War Memorial. The unexpected opportunity to participate in The Last Post service and laying of a wreath by our school leaders, Essence and Javier was particularly special.

REQUEST FOR ALL SCHOOL MAINTENANCE LOCAL TRADES PROVIDERS AND

SUPPLIERS

The NSW Government has committed the largest investment in planned maintenance at public

schools in the history of NSW. A record $1.3 billion is being spent on an ambitious delivery

program, focused on employing local businesses and contractors across the state.

To assist in addressing regional school maintenance issues and at the same time

provide work for local trade’s persons and suppliers across the Hunter/Central Coast

regions, over $100 million is being invested to upgrade and maintain our school

Infrastructure.

Given this record spend by School Infrastructure NSW, you are invited to an Asset

Management Unit industry breakfast briefing. This will provide information to existing and new

contractors on how you can get involved.

To find out more by attending our Industry breakfast register at
