Coming Up in Week 5 Monday—Assembly

Monday - Remembrance Day Service at Cardiff RSL

Monday—Kindergarten Excursion—Hunter Valley Zoo

Thursday—Kindergarten Orientation No 5 Year 6 Fun Day

Thank you to all the parents who donated cakes and sent their children along with plenty of coins to make the Year 6 Fun Day a huge success. A great time was had by all with students enjoying a range of activities including hair spraying, nail colouring, sponge throwing and target practice. Approximately $1500 was raised on the day. Year 6 will use this money to purchase a gift for the school which will be announced at Presentation Day. Grandfriend’s Day

It was a fabulous turnout for our Grandfriend’s Day last Friday. We estimate that we had over 100 visitors. Our Grandfriend’s assisted our students in creating designs for a new mural that will be used to brighten up our toilet block.

Thanks so much for all your support by coming to this event as it is our way of saying thank you for all the hard work you do in supporting our families.

Welcome to our new P&C

Our P&C recently held their AGM and elected a new executive. I would like to thank the outgoing executive, particularly Rob Richens who has done a great job as president over the past two years. A big welcome or welcome back to our new executive which include Sue Gardner (President), Karen Kerr (Treasurer) and Megan Mason (Vice President). I know there are still positions unfilled so if you’re interested in holding one of these positions, please speak to Sue for more information.

I would also like to thank Patty Thompson for taking on the role of Canteen Supervisor. Patty is looking for more volunteers so we can ensure that the canteen is open 5 days a week. If you’re able to volunteer please see Patty or Sue to let them know your availability. School Hats

Wearing a school hat is just as important as wearing any other part of our school uniform. From next year onwards, students who do not wear a school hat will only be able to play under the COLA. Please ensure your child has a clearly labelled school hat so they can be sun safe and comply with our uniform policy. Hats can be purchased from the office or via the Country Feeling website .

Kindergarten 2020

A reminder that we are still taking enrolments for Kindergarten 2020. If you know someone who lives in our school zone with a child starting school next year, please remind them to contact the school. A flyer with more information about transition is contained in this newsletter.

Have a great fortnight Nathan Forbes Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers Here is a snapshot of what is new with the P&C: 1. New members are always welcome! We meet at 6:30pm on the Wednesday of Week 4 & 8 each term. Meetings usually run for an hour and you are more than welcome to bring the kids along. Just bring something quiet for them to do. 2. Don't forget to look out for your End of Year Raffle ticket books which should be sent home with your children next week. There are some great prizes available and we are always looking for more donations. So if you are a business owner or have contacts with those who are, have a think about what you might be able to contribute. The raffle is drawn on Presentation Day. 3.We have some great fundraising ideas planned for 2020 - all funds raised will go towards the Future Focused Learning Teaching Space Revamp - our kids benefit from any contribution we can make, large or small. 4. The Canteen is always looking for helpers so if you are interested, have a chat with Patty. Patty is there Monday and Friday. 5. All P&C communication is conducted via the Facebook group GEPS Parents & Community - make sure you join so you are up to date with everything P&C and all the things we are doing to support our great school. Thanks, Sue Gardiner P & C President

Hi Everyone, My name is WOOF and I’m just letting you know that School Banking day is THURSDAY. So please bring your Bank Book into the office on Thursday mornings ready for banking. If your child/ren does not yet have a bank account, you can open one at your local Commonwealth Bank Branch. Kids, once you make 10 deposits you can claim one of our many rewards.

School Banking

School Drop Off and Pick Up Times This year we have seen a significant increase in the number of parents arriving late to pick their child up from school. Please remember that school finishes at 2:57pm and students should be collected from school at a designated pick up point. Please give notice before 2.45 to the office if you may be late to collect your children to make sure their teachers are given the message in plenty of time. Also in the mornings students that arrive before 8.30am will be unsupervised as there are no teachers on grounds duty before 8.30am. Please note student supervision times are 8.30am to 3.00pm .

Spare Clothes Unfortunately we do not have spare clothes at school, so we kindly ask parent/carers to have a spare set of clothes in their child’s bag, should you believe they may need a spare set.
