He realized that in the background of the music on the speakers, a faint message was being tapped out in morse code: “first man through the door gets the job.” The company knew that in the distractions and uproar of a ship at sea, having a telegraph operator who could hear the right messages would be critical, maybe even the difference between life and death. The first man through the door was set apart, because he heard the message that mattered. In John 10 Jesus says, “My sheep hear My voice… and follow Me.” We live in a world of noise, confusion, and conflicting voices, and it is critical that we seek out and learn to hear the most important message. Jesus has eagerly looked forward to this Thursday night with the disciples, but after the Last Supper He experiences betrayal by Judas, a selfish argument among the disciples, denial by Peter, and misunderstanding from all of them. This Sunday morning in Luke 22: 24 – 38, we’ll see how the whole scene gives us a living example of Proverbs 3: 5 -6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” On Sunday evening we’ll begin a study of Psalm 119 with verses 1 – 8—who is blessed, and how you can be too. CHURCH LIBRARY RESOURCE OF THE WEEK

Want to get ready for Free Burma Rangers Monday night? See The Insanity of God, the unforgettable first movie from LifeWay Films! After the death of their son, Nik and Ruth Ripken journey into the depths of the persecuted church, asking the question—“Is Jesus Worth It?” How does faith survive, let alone flourish in the places of the world that are overcome with the darkness of sin, despair, and hopelessness? Join the Ripkens as they tell the story of being taught by believers in persecution “how to follow Jesus, how to love Jesus, and how to walk with Him day by day even when it doesn’t make sense.” It’s on DVD, waiting for you in the Church Library!
