If we’re not seeing results by this afternoon, or next week at the most, we lose interest and move on. Your spiritual life, however, doesn’t work that way. We want to be filled with peace and power, living for Him, and able to leap tall sins in a single bound because we made it to church Sunday, or read the Bible every day this week. God will use those spiritual disciplines to transform your life, but it happens when you practice them faithfully and consistently over the long haul. On some days your Bible reading and prayer time will bring a flash of encouragement and insight; on many others they may not. But, as Daniel Darling says, “what’s more important is the rhythm of reading and rereading the Scripture. Over a lifetime, this ritual can shape the soul.” Worship services are like meals: some are memorable, but most you won’t recall specifically. Over the years, though, they bring health, strength, and nourishment. How would your life be different today if you had read the Bible and prayed every day, and attended worship every week, for the last ten years? Find out—ten years from now. The Temple in Jerusalem was one of the wonders of the ancient world, and the center of Israel’s national and religious life. When Jesus tells the disciples it would be torn apart block by block, they’re stunned. They assume that must mean the end of the age, so they ask Jesus when these things would take place and what the signs would be. On Sunday morning, we’ll walk through Jesus’ answer in Luke 21 and see what it means for you and me. On Sunday night, in James 5: 13 – 18 we’ll hear one of the final messages James wants to leave ringing in our ears as he concludes his letter: let us pray! Summer Mission Trip: SignSignSignSign----upupupup by February 23by February 23by February 23by February 23

July 11 – 18 we will be at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church in Brockton, MA—in the Boston area—to conduct VBS and do some work on the building. For VBS, we need at least two people in

crafts, recreation, refreshments, and for each of the age groups. We will use the material that we use here in our VBS in June. Building work will include painting, drop ceilings, and other projects requiring no previous experience (though we could use some “foremen” with experience). We will stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Brockton; cost for lodging will be approximately $300 per person, cost for flying will be approximately $200 - $300 more per person. You will also need some additional funds for a few meals and free time. For more information or to sign up, see Bro. Dean—we need your name, a $50 deposit, and to know if you prefer to fly or ride the bus. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Debt Retirement Drive Begins Sunday

The church has approved a joint request of the Deacons and Finance Committee to ask each family to pray over making an extra monthly contribution to retire the debt incurred from our recent purchase of the adjacent lot. An extra monthly gift of $50, the cost of one meal out for most families, over a year would cover an entire monthly payment. Pledge cards will be provided Sunday; please pray over your participation.

awesome chaperones for their assistance in driving and helping keep track of everyone.

Thank you First Baptist Church for supporting our youth. –Mr. Tony
