eTextbook Licenses

All Brown Mackie eTextbooks are provided through the VitalSource license. Here are some details:• Student books first have a 15 day

temporary license. This allows for drops/adds to classes•On the 16th day, books must be switched to the long-term license. This generally happens automatically.

• Faculty books are accessed using an eText code provided by your campus-level iPad support.

On your iPad or a computer, login to

your Student Portal

First, click on eText.

Second, click on the title of your eTextbook

Once the book is loaded, it will be available to you for

5-years.

If you do not know your VitalSource email and password complete the following steps.

Tap on the “Brown Mackie College” logo in the black

bar at the top of the screen.

Tap “My Account”

Tap “My Account” in the menu that opens

Check your email address (for any spelling errors)

Enter the password you will use in these two

boxes

Tap “Update Profile” when finished.

The following steps must be completed on the iPad

Tap the iPad Module icon on

your Home Screen

Tap “iPad and eTextbooks”

Tap this icon to begin

downloading VitalSource

Tap this button twice: first “Free”

then “Install”

Enter your Apple ID password again

Tap “OK”

Tap the Bookshelf app to open VitalSource

Enter the email address and password you used to create your VitalSource account

Then click “Sign In”

Any books you have available will be listed here.

Notice the small exclamation point; this means the book is not downloaded.

Tap on your current textbook to begin downloading it.

Click “Download”

This progress bar shows you how long until the book is downloaded.

Once the download is finished, tap on the book title to read it.
