Canadian ThoraCiC soCieTy sCienTiFiC ProGraM 2012

The Canadian Thoracic Society (CTS) Program Planning Sub-Committee, chaired by Dr Pearce Wilcox, is pleased to announce that the honourary speakers for the 2012 CTS Scientific Program have been selected. Dr Susan Tarlo will deliver the Christie Memorial Lecture and Dr Qutayba Hamid will deliver the Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Canadian Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health/CTS Distinguished Lecture in Respiratory Sciences.

The CTS Scientific Program will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012, in conjunction with the American College of Chest Physicians’ CHEST 2012 Conference, in Atlanta, Georgia (USA). The program will include the following topics:

COPD Gold Guidelines are Fool’s Gold (Debate)•Home-based Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Telemedicine: Realizing •the PotentialHypersensitivity Pneumonitis: Beyond Birds and Baths•Lung Cancer: New Developments to Fight an Old Foe?•Occupational Asthma•Transplantation•The Tuberculosis Epidemic in First Nations: Developing a Molecular •and Microbiologic Understanding for Planning Future Strategies

Le Sous-comité de la planification de programme de la Société canadienne de thoracologie (SCT), présidé par le Dr Pearce Wilcox, a le plaisir d’annoncer les noms des conférenciers d’honneur du Programme scientifique 2012 de la SCT. Dre Susan Tarlo pronon-cera la Conférence commémorative Christie et le Dr Qutayba Hamid prononcera la Conférence émérite de l’Institut de la santé circula-toire et respiratoire des Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada, et de la SCT.
