To schedule a bulky item pick-up, please contact Waste Management at (805) 922-2121 at least 24 hours in advance of your service day. Mattress Recycling Customers can drop off mattresses for free at the Waste Management/Health Sanitation Service location at 1850 West Betteravia Road in Santa Maria, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 97 Commerce Drive in Buellton, Wednesday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed 11:30 - noon). These locations are participating collection sites for Bye Bye Mattress. Residents can drop off up to 5 mattresses per person, per day. A mattress recycled through the Bye Bye Mattress program is broken up into four main components – steel, foam, wood and fibers. These are used to make new products like carpet padding, steel products, filter media, and automotive insulation. Give your old mattress new life by recycling it today!
