What’s your point?

Before you come up with the tools, have a goal in mind.

How are you going to measure success?

THEN find the tools that will help you!

Page 5: Conference Social Media

Get your buzz on…..• Set up Twitter hashtag & Flickr group

pool/password• Ask your own twenty-somethings to organize a

‘flashmob’ at the conference via social media• Early adopters lead the way…..

the 90:10 principle• Find your media mavens to promote your tools• Public audience? Share via social news sites

(search for that…trust me) or sites like Upcoming

It’s not just social media….

• Host regional ‘pre-party’ prior to conference• Create opportunities for social interaction in-

person….card/sticker trading, vendor bingo, hospitality suite, ‘ignite’ (5 minute power points) sessions, xbox/Playstation, digital photo setup

• Former winners (scholarship?) act as mentors to new…can be set up online and continue…

• Crowdsourcing: Attendees self-define groups to gather at the event—you can provide a platform to organize groups, and maybe a place/time, but the idea people take it from there….
