May the Lord bless you and keep as we start into Summer. It

is hot and humid these days as we look toward the Fourth of

July. We can be always thankful for the freedoms we enjoy.

Yet it is also a trying time.

Over the past few weeks we have seen a lot of situations and

issues. I have brought up some of those instances that I have

experienced as well. In conversations, sermons, and actions

you may have seen, in some form, how these have touched

my life. Some of them occurred in my daily life, at work, on

the street, and unfortunately even in church.

What makes us who we are, in large part, is what we experi-

ence in life. What gives us our response to things in life is

how we have learned to react to any situation that befalls us.

This is true with any difficulty in life. I truly value the ability

and privilege to speak between individuals. That ability, to

have open conversations and to actively listen to each other,

is the avenue we have to create a path of mutual privilege for

the sacredness of understanding one another. This privilege

is how we grant worth to our lives that we can share together,

our hearts and desires as God’s people.

Yes it is an immense undertaking. Granting mutual privi-

lege in understanding each other can and will be a long,

often strenuous, and painful process. It requires us to be

open to experiencing misunderstanding, fear of rejection,

and confusion in how to react. However, the enrichment in

each of our lives, along with the spiritual growth we re-

ceive, brings vitality of spirit and peace of mind.

The actions of justice we should seek is to be mutually re-

spectful and lovingly responsive to each other. What we

need is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,

faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. When we take

the time, with determination, to learn, to practice, and to

live these spiritual tools we can grow to that place of giving

mutual privilege to each. We can willingly extend ourselves

to accept, acclimate, and appreciate each other regardless

of any differences.

However it takes a lifetime of pointed and focused perse-

verance for each of us to grow in these areas. The most

accessible and effective way to grow in these are to learn

them as what they really are, fruit or evidence of the Holy

Spirit living in us. We can truly learn to offer each other the

honor of experiencing mutual privilege in learning who we

really are by following Christ. May the peace of God grip

our hearts and our spirits. May love conquer as only love

can the differences and opinions we have allowed to grow

that are not in line with God and our faith. May we truly

love one another.

My life experiences have brought me through many issues

as long as I placed them and myself in the ever reforming

power of our God. In the light of God I have overcome so

many struggles. We can all do so together if we learn to let

God be first.

Session Digest - Thursday, June 18, 2020

The session met on June 18, 2020, all Elders were present. Also

present were Moderator-Dixie Anders; Clerk-Susan Wright and

Treasurer-Linda Jasper Reynolds. Juanita Elders opened the

meeting with devotions. She used a blog from Max Lacado

“God’s Ancient Answer for Racism”. It was a timely devotion re-

minding us that all people are made in God’s image. Juanita pro-

vided the opening prayer.

The financial reports were received and approved. A friendly re-

minder to send in your pledges and donations.

The minutes of the May 20, 2020m stated Session meeting were

approved with one correction.

Susan reported that she has been working on the Ministry Infor-

mation Form (MIF) for the Interim Pastor.

The Worship Committee reported on their June 2, 2020 meeting

regarding plans to re-open the Church. After discussion the Ses-

sion voted to hold off on re-opening until they can assess the ris-

ing cases of COVID 19 in Taney and surrounding counties.

Susan reported that outside people/groups using the Church for

meetings will be required to submit a Certificate of Insurance

naming the Church as an additional insured under their policy.

The Certificate also has to have a Waiver of Subrogation clause

to protect the Church. The Bookies group and the senior exer-

cise group are considered Church groups and will be added to

the Church’s coverage.

Juanita presented information on Presbytery grants that can be

used to upgrade media services to provide for other ways to con-

duct services, etc.

Betty noted that the application for the Slusher Foundation Grant

needs to be completed. Session approved Betty, Denise and

Gretchen Keith to work on the grant.

Clyde reported that the air conditioner for the office/kitchen is not

working again. Session directed that we proceed with replace-

ment as approved late last year.

Clyde also reported on the following: the Food Truck is opera-

tional and will be in the Church parking lot one day a week. Re-

pairs were made to the Presbyterian Flag and a new U.S. flag

was donated. Thank you to Shirley and Mike Mullen; Kieran Irali

donated two carpet shampoo machines to the Church. Thank

you Kieren.

will not be back in Church for Communion, please let your Elder

know, when they call, if you would like to receive Communion at

home. It will be delivered on July 12. Also let your calling Elder

An excerpt from a letter to our Session Members:

Having served on our church session in the past,

I can truly appreciate all the hard work required

of all of you at this present time. There are no

words to truly express the courageous and mar-

velous job you are doing in these times of ex-

treme uncertainty. Whiled summoned on so

many different fronts, your tender and compas-

sionate concerns for our entire church member-

ship has not gone unnoticed.

Most Humbly Yours, Cindy Werner
