*Hymn in Procession No. 81 “Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken”
*Prayer of the Day (in unison)
Lord God, John 4:5-42
you are living water.
As we worship you this day
show us who we are:
channels of your love
and vessels of your grace;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Call to Confession
God’s love has been poured into our hearts Romans 5:5
through the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Trusting in God’s overflowing grace, let us confess our sin.
March 15, 2020 Ten-Thirty O’Clock
Prayer of Confession (in unison)
Lord, you know who we are. John 4:5-24
You know everything we have done.
We thirst for things that will never satisfy us.
We commit ourselves to things that will never last.
We worship things that will never bring salvation.
Still, you offer us the gift of living water.
Still, you offer us the gift of eternal life.
Forgive us, O Lord, and give us this living water,
so that we may never thirst again. Amen.
Kyrie—Hymn No. 579 “Lord, Have Mercy”
*Assurance of Pardon
Leader: This is the good news of God’s grace: Romans 5:8-10
Though we were sinners, Christ died for us.
People: Though we were enemies of God,
God loved us.
Once we were lost and dead—
now Christ has become our life and salvation.
Leader: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
Thanks be to God!
*Response—Hymn No. 439 (verses 1 and 2) “O My Soul, Bless Your Redeemer”
O my soul, bless your Redeemer; all within me bless God’s name;
Bless the Savior, and forget not all God’s mercies to proclaim.
God forgives all your transgressions, all diseases gently heals;
God redeems you from destruction, and with you so kindly deals.

Grace In Our Midst—Judy Smith Invitation to the Offering
Malachi 3:10 “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.”
Anthem “Cantique de Jean Racine” Gabriel Fauré
Word equal to the All-High, our only hope of heaven, Eternal Dayspring of the earth and sky, We break the silent calm of the untroubled even: Saviour divine, bend upon us thine eye.
Of thy triumphant grace pour over us the fire That, when thou dost but speak, all hell confounds; Dispel the lethargy of souls whose weak desire Oft makes them of thy laws transgress the bounds.
O Christ, benignly view this faithful congregation, Meet now their edifice of praise to build; Receive their proffered hymns, accept their true oblation, And send them home with all thy bounty filled.
*Doxology—Hymn No. 708 (stanzas 1 & 2) SCHUMANN We give thee but thine own, whate’er the gift may be; all that we have is thine alone, a trust, O Lord, from thee. May we thy bounties thus as stewards true receive, and gladly, as thou blessest us, to thee our first-fruits give.
Prayer of Dedication (in unison)
O Lord, you are our God; Psalm 95:7; John 4:34
we are the people of your pasture, the sheep of your hand. As you have fed us by your mercy, may it be our daily bread to do your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PREPARING FOR SUNDAY, MARCH 22, 2020—4th Sunday in Lent Scripture Readings: 1 Samuel 16:1-13; Psalm 23; Ephesians 5:8-14; John 9:1-41
Consider: Samuel is told that God does not look upon outward appearances, but looks upon the heart. Then God chooses David, the youngest son of Jesse, to be Israel’s next king. We know that as he grew and as life became very challenging, King David’s heart was not pure. He was a mixture of great courage and faithfulness—and great sin and failure. What do you suppose God saw and loved in David’s heart? What do you think God loves when God looks upon your own heart?
