NEW TEXTING & CAR SEAT RULES - According to the Ponca Newspaper, "beginning Nov. 1, city ordinances will take effect barring the act of texting while driving and raising the age required for child car seat restraints...to 8 years and under." Texting while driving will now be illegal in Oklahoma. Rear-facing car seats until the age of 2 (or weight limit of their car seat) and children age 2 to 8 will be required in child-restraint seats (or until 4 feet 9 inches).

PRINCIPAL - Mr. Birnbaum: Next Wednesday - November 11 will be our Veteran's Day Celebration. If you are a veteran, or know one, please encourage them to come. Students, wear Red, White, and Blue. Let us remember and honor our Veteran's for their sacrifice for our freedom.

PRE-SCHOOL – Ms. Lester: Fall greetings from PreSchool; I sent a note home about Grandparent's Day on Monday. Please fill out and return the bottom portion no later than Monday, November 9th so we will have somewhat of a count for food and drink purposes; also, we are still needing a few parents to bring breakfast-like things for that day. If you would like to help, please let myself or Mrs. Karen know ASAP.

School is out for Preschool November 24th-27th for Thanksgiving break; childcare will be available Monday afternoon through Wednesday as long as we have enough children sign up for each day; the sign up sheet will available as early as today in the childcare area. Thank you for sharing your kiddo's with me; we do have a great time together and they are all excelling so much in class.

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Herard: It certainly doesn't feel like November, but we are busy, busy planning for Grandparent's Day! Thanks to those already signed up to help with food or serving for this special event. Look for a letter in backpacks regarding grandparents that will be attending so we can get invitations printed. Box Top contest is going on so bring them in to help PS win! We are also bringing canned/boxed foods for chapel this month. SHOW and TELL is this Friday (Thursday for Hadley). Our theme this week is "Community Helpers" and our letter is "H". God bless!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN - Mrs. Kelly: Mrs. Mayer is with the children again this week. Mrs. Kelly has some business to take care of and will try to be here some of the time Thursday and Friday with Mrs. Mayer. Hopefully she will be back next week. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. We are on the letter "C" this week and the number 6. We are counting with candy corn and beginning to get ready for Grandparents Day. In Bible time we are learning about how God took care of Moses and the people when they encountered the soldiers at the Red Sea. God is stronger than any trouble. Our Bible words are "With God all things are possible" Matt. 19:26. If you need to contact Mrs. Mayer for anything my number is 580-716-3373. Have a blessed week.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Flaherty: Hope you all had fun Trick or Treating!! This week we will be working on the letter "Xx". Throughout the month of November, we will be talking about the weather changes, giving thanks, harvest, and of course turkey's. We will also be working on our program for Grandparent's Day. Book orders will be in back packs today

3 Growing up Into Jesus, Reaching Out with Jesus, Walking Together in Jesus

and will be due back on Monday, November 9th. Bible words for this week are "Beloved, we are God's children now." 1 John 3:2. Parents, can you please bring in a brown paper bag for your child and a plastic lid (e.g. coffee lid, yogurt lid, butter lid, etc.) THIS FRIDAY IS SHOW N SHARE!!! Have a great week.

KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: Thank you parents for making our costume party so fun! Please read 20 books this month for a free pizza from book it. Also, this Friday the 6th will be show and tell. Please bring something that will fit in your backpack. We will not have book orders from Scholastic this month because the school will have a "Scholastic book fair" in November and you can buy books during the fair. So please don't order books in our online account. Our class would like to wish Faith a happy birthday on the 5th! Have a sensational week!

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: Memory for Friday - He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Psalm 23:3. Thank you Jennifer and Donna for planning our fun party on Friday and for all the parents that came to help. The children have been doing a great job on their memory work and spelling tests. Thank you parents for taking the time to work with your kids - it really does make a big difference! November reading logs for Book It came home this week. Read, read, read!! Have a great rest of the week!

2ND, 3RD, AND 4TH: Tulsa Opera: Tuesday the 10th of November the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th grades will be going to Roosevelt School to see "Twice Upon a Birthday". We plan to walk to the play; in case of inclement weather, we will need drivers. If you can drive, please note that on the permission slip. A HUGE thank you to two of our PIE (Partners In Education) Partners: Stolhand Heating & Air Conditioning and Martin, Jean, & Jackson for funding this cultural experience.

SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: Happy Thanksgiving Month! This week I'm especially thankful for these fine second graders and their loving families. What a pleasure to work with you! We enjoyed the play and we thank you for taking us. Hopefully you have seen the science assignment which is due this Friday. Let me know if you have questions. A special family turkey project came home on Monday and is due Friday the 13th. Memory work for tomorrow is 1Corinthians 13:13, And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Grandparents' Day is November 23. Please give your child's grandparents a save the date reminder. Happy November Birthday to Lauren King! God's Blessings, dear friend!

THIRD GRADE - Mrs. Steichen: Happy Reformation! We have been studying Martin Luther in Religion, so ask your child about the Reformation. This week: Reading and Spelling Test Friday. 1st Commandment is also due on Friday. Grandparents Day: I have passed out parts for a play, please ask your child about this and start working on learning parts. Also, start thinking about a costume; we will be needing those in a couple of weeks. Social Studies: We are learning about sizes of communities. This is a small chapter with only three lessons, so a test will be coming up soon. Book Reports: We are a month away, please let me know if you have any questions. Book IT: please keep reading. If you have an October calendar, please turn it in for your pizza coupon. Please also, keep Mrs. Kelly and her family in your prayers!!

FOURTH GRADE - Mrs. Sibley: What a great feeling to have an extra hour of sleep as the clock changed. Please continue to stay healthy as the seasons are going back and forth. I hope that you all have been staying warm as the weather changes. Thank you for all of the help on the field trip yesterday. It couldn’t happen without you the parents. Please send back the permission slip for the November 20th Field Trip. Chapel money is going for the Angel Tree. Remember that money is needed so that children may go and purchase gifts for the children that would not have a Christmas without us! The non-perishable food for November chapel offering is for those that cannot provide food during this time of year.

FIFTH GRADE - Mrs. Schatte: What a fun week we had during Red Ribbon Week! Thank you, Mrs. Goll, and Student Council members for planning that for us. We're working on our Grandparent's Day song and on the Christmas program, so we are staying quite busy. Some of us are in desperate need of paper. Please ask your child if he/she needs paper. My huge stack is almost gone, and I'm pretty sure most parents are in the dark as far as knowing paper is needed. We wish happy November birthdays to Brynn (1) and Madux (9). Blessings along the way!

MIDDLE SCHOOL 11/9-14 Shidler Tournament (8th Grade) 11/10 FLS @ Pawhuska, 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 (5th & 6th)

11/11 FLSCA, 7:30, Early Childhood Bldg 11/17 Dewey Tournament (6th)

LUNCHROOM POLICY: For the middle school only…students in middle school who sign up to eat school lunch, and

then don’t, will be charged half price for that meal. Thank you in advance for helping us make sure our cooks are not going to the trouble and expense of fixing food for students who aren’t eating, and then having to throw it all away. If your student(s) does not plan to eat the school lunch, they need to remember to tell their homeroom teacher each morning when the teachers take lunch count, and then they will not be charged.

This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Mrs. Goll: Fractions and decimals; multiples and factors; linear equations and inequalities: these are the topics we’ve been covering in math lately. Most students did well on the recent test. All may do corrections for extra points, but those corrections must be completed this week. Students who are struggling in math are encouraged to come to Mrs. Goll’s study hall on Mondays or Fridays at 2:30 for extra help, or to join us in the math room after school on Tuesday’s and/or Thursday’s.

MathCounts: Dylan Powell will again help lead our MathCounts session on Thursday after school. All mathletes are invited to join us to hone their math skills.

Thanks, Student Council, for leading us for Red Ribbon Week. And thanks to Ponca City Community for our educational experience at the “drug store”.

Mrs. Harbeson: Greetings! We're all settling into the second quarter just fine. I want to warn you, however, that this quarter goes by quicker than any of the others. In just a few weeks, we'll be breaking for Thanksgiving Break, and then a few weeks later will be Christmas...and the end of the second quarter. Basketball, tournaments, cheer, Grandparents' Day, Christmas parties, and a whole slew of other activities will really keep us busy. It is imperative that all students keep on top of their assignments. If for some reason you are absent, please, please, come ask your teachers for your assignments; and then get them handed in! If you are the parent of a 6th grader, we will be singing in chapel on a Wednesday before Thanksgiving (I'll post the date as soon as Mr. Birnbaum approves it) and for church service on a Sunday. I will also be taking the students to an assisted living center around those dates to perform and hand out Thanksgiving cards. I will need parents to get us there and back (leave at 2:00 and be back at 3:10). I'll let you all know as soon as I finalize the dates.

For all students, Grandparents' Day is scheduled for Tuesday, November 24. This is, by far, my favorite day of the year! My grandparents played a huge part in my life, and I absolutely love seeing your student's grandparents at school that day. If for some reason your child isn't able to have a grandparent attend, he or she can partner up with a friend and his or her grandparent, or you could ask a close family friend or church member to be a surrogate grandparent for the day. Unfortunately, because of the large number of guests we will have at school that day, parents aren't able to attend this event. It is a grandparent’s only day! That's all I have for now. Have a great week!

Mrs. Hanson: And it begins: The busy schedule of the basketball/holiday season! Just remember that keeping up is easier than catching up!

Wreath orders were due Monday and we can expect delivery on the week of the 16th. Salt MIne Permission forms have been sent home and need to be returned by Friday, Nov. 6. We will need drivers

for this trip. All classes are chuggin' along and can expect a quiz by the end of the week. Grandparents Day is coming up! All 7th graders need to bring in or send me a picture of them and their

grandparents, or people who they consider grandparents. The picture can be recent or older. Please get these to me by Nov. 18.

CHEER: shoes will finally be here soon and we ordered bows with them. New totals can be found on my website. We are participating in the Veterans Day Parade THIS Saturday! Girls need to be on grand by 10 am. Location will be announced Wednesday.

Mr. Covert: I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween and All Saints Day this weekend, as well as the extra hour of sleep!

The 8th grade is starting to get into the nuts and bolts of the Constitution, and understand how it affects us as citizens of the United States. In 7th grade, we wrapped up states and capitals and are starting to take a look at Canada. The 6th grade is finishing up the Persian Wars, and then we’ll move into a detailed look at Greek Civilization.

7th grade parents, I will be sending out a fast direct message as well as a letter home with your students regarding the DC trip and something that needs to be taken care of prior to it. Please refer to those for details.

I pray that God blesses us all this November as we remember how He continues to do so every single day!
