InDesign skills:

InDesign allows you to create interactive posters in an efficient way. To start of we need to create a new file for it.

This is the button that you click to start a new poster.

These two options are where you can alter the size of the page. The measurements that are shown are for an A4 sized page. If you wanted the page to be bigger or smaller you would use the arrows at the side to alter the page size.

These diagrams with a person in the middle of them allow you to choose whether you would like your page to be landscape or portrait.

The column section splits your page into columns. This is useful for when you insert text. Depending on the number of columns that are inputted depends on how many columns appear.

This is what the page looks like once you have inputted all of the information that you need to. I chose the size of my page to be A4 with 2 columns. This is useful for when the text will get inputted later on.

When you want to include an image to InDesign you need to use this button. After you have clicked on the button you need to click and drag to the size you would like it to be depending on the size of your image.

I have kept my image box within the border as it will appear better once printed out so no edges are missing.

To include an image you need to go to file and place. Once you have done this your documents will open which will allow you to input a photo.

This is what your documents will look like. Once you have chosen an image it will apear on the right hand side of your documents. You will then click open for it to appear on the InDesign. This is what it will look like after.

Because the image doesn’t fit the whole of the box you will need to right click and got to fitting. Once you have done this you can click Fit frame proportionally or fit content proportionally depending on which works better. Once you have done this the photo should fit the full content of the box you have drawn like this.

Once you have sorted out the placement of your images you can start adding text in. this button allows you to do this. To insert a text box you left click then drag to the size you would like it to be.

Once you have inputted some text you can alter the font, size, colour and the alignment with the tool bar at the top of the page. By doing this your work will look more effective.

If you’re not sure what to add as text you can add in temporary text. You do this by going to type then fill with placeholder text. This allows you to get an idea of what the poster will look like with text on the page. Once you have done this you can edit how the text looks by using the tool bar at the top of the page.
