  • ArchiCAD 10 INT Library New Features Guide

  • Introduction This Manual contains a short description of the changes and enhancements in the ArchiCAD 10 INT library. Below youll also find a list of new and updated library parts and the corresponding user instructions. In addition to the new features, we have also fixed the inconsistencies reported in the AC9 library. Please note that these corrections are not listed in this white paper.

Library Library Format The AC 10 object library is stored in the new library container (lcf) format, which loads significantly faster then traditional libraries. Textures, LightWorks materials, background pictures and list templates have been moved from the archive to a library folder so that they can be freely unloaded or modified by users.

Compatibility A version suffix (10) has been added to each library parts name. The objects main GUID (Globally Unique ID) has also changed, enabling the new AC 10 library to be loaded together with the ArchiCAD 9 library into legacy projects, without error messages. Consequently, the library parts of old projects will not be replaced by the AC10 objects.

General Changes in the Library Each library part has been saved with a new fresh-looking preview picture User Interface has been added to doors, windows, steel sections and many furniture

elements The objects pen defaults were configured to match the new AC10 pen tables

New objects The AC 10 library has 88 new elements, including concrete structures, steel sections, furniture, landscape objects and many more. Moreover, the entire door and window library has been renewed, which means an additional 126 new elements. Below you will find the complete list of new library parts.

Doors and Windows Doors and windows are probably the most important parts of any AC library. Consequently, library development for the AC 10 library was concentrated on this project. Doors and windows have been completely rewritten based on user feedback. The two major benefits are better usability and more flexible 2D and 3D editing. The complete list of new features is below.

Folder Organization We have revised the folder structure and the organization of the door and window library. The new structure is based on the material, structure and the operation type of doors and windows. While the new library contains fewer windows, these library parts actually result in more window types due to the new parameters that have been added. Just one example: The AC9 library included 22 casement window objects; in AC10, these have been fully integrated into only 9 elements, thanks to the new transom and sidelight parameters.

  • User interface We have created a new, intuitive graphical user interface (UI) for all doors and windows to make it easier and faster to set parameters. The most important features are:

The user interface contains the graphical representation of all parameters except the Listing ones

A new "General" tab page is set as default in the custom settings dialog. This graphical interface includes only the most commonly used parameters. In the early design stages, most users can get by using just these parameters.

The illustrations on the user interface tab pages now show the real structure of the window or door

Different groups of parameters are placed on separate tab pages for easier navigation. UI pictures can now have a transparent background that shows up correctly on any

    dialog background

    Casing

Trim parameters have been renamed to casing. Casing structure has been corrected in 2D and 3D. The casing stops at the frame on both sides and does not extend behind the frame as one piece. There is also an option for casing offset on both sides.

    Masonry Arch

Masonry arch is a new feature of the AC 10 doors and windows. This parameter has five options: masonry arch masonry jack arch masonry jack arch with keystone masonry segmental arch masonry segmental arch with keystone

Custom Reveal and Parapet Wall Inset

The new custom reveal parameter has two options: Negative reveal (which creates a recess on the outside surface of the wall) Slanted reveal

Note that the Reveal has to be turned on to make this option active Furthermore you can turn on a parapet wall inset for every AC 10 window on the interior side of the wall.

    Texture Coordination

We paid special attention to fixing the texture coordination problems of the AC9 doors and windows. Wood grain directions are now correct on each surface of the frame, leaf etc. Furthermore, a new Frame Element Joinery parameter was introduced with the following options:

    Butt joint Mitered joint

    Mitered Joint

    Butt Joint

    Custom Door and Window Panels

The user can create custom door panels and windows sashes in a few steps: Draw the structure Open the 3D window Select the elements

  • Windows

    Window Size Setting

The Nominal size and the Unit size of the window are also displayed on the general UI tab page

Tolerance is a new parameter with which you can define a gap between the wall opening and the window unit

Window size setting on the General UI tab page

    Sash Operation types

The operation type of window sidelights and transoms can be changed with a parameter. The main window sash is not parametric, since the different window types are saved as stand-alone objects. The only exception is the feature window, for which the operation type of the main sash is also adjustable. The following operation types are available:

Fix Side hung Bottom hung Top hung Tilt-turn Reversible

Upper and Lower Transom and Sidelight can be turned on in Feature windows.

    Custom Panels

The custom panel option is also available for windows. See the detailed description above at Custom Door and Window Panels.

    New Windows

Two terrace doors can be found in the 1.2 Doors/Terrace Doors folder. They consist of a terrace door combined with a window. These library parts can be placed with the Window tool.

  • Terrace door and window combination

Tilt-Turn windows are also new in the AC 10 Library. The objects are located in the 1.3 Windows/Wood Plastic Windows/Tilt-Turn Windows folder.

    Features

We have added some long-missing features to the skylight objects: There is a new parameter for lining (an interior casing to cover the roof edge around the

skylight) The roof edge can have the following values: Vertical, Perpendicular, Horizontal and

Custom Like doors and windows, skylights have different floor plan symbols: Projected, Projected

with overhead, Symbolic view, Outlines Only, Overhead all. Note that for skylights, these options are available as an option of the Floor Plan symbol parameter.

All skylights have a detailed graphical user interface.
