Established back in 2008, AIESEC Ethiopia has grown over the last 7 years into evidentlybecoming a promising entity in the AIESEC Global Network after being honored with theGlobal Excellence award for growth in IGCDP in 2011 and recently the Best Innovative entityin IGIP.

With a start of the only Local Committee, it has evolved into harboring 6 Local Committeeswith 4 of them rooted in the Capital Addis Ababa and the other 2 found in the central andnorthern parts of the country.

The country presents a demanding trend for external support in the area of Education andYouth Empowerment and this puts AIESEC up as a great haven to meet this demand. Thisassertion literally suggests the amount of strength the entity carries in harnessing any of theexchange programmes but more precisely in the area of IGCDP.

With a revived direction of a “Hands-on-approach” operations, we wish to extend invitationto committed and dedicated persons who are not only interested to develop themselves butto also support the sustainability and growth of the entity.

The Cultural Envoy Exchange Development program is an internalexchange program between two Entities within AIESEC. The programsends members from one LC in an Entity to work in an international LCfor the purpose of best practice sharing, partnership development, member development, and cultural exchange. The program serves asan excellent way to give members an incredible international AIESECexperience while allowing the LC to develop partnerships with strategiccountries.

LocationLC Mekelle counts as one of the 6 LCs in the country and located in the Northern part of Ethiopia.

Current DirectionOwing to weak transition in the previous term, the LC began this year on a very rough note andprimarily faces the challenge of low membership size, very weak organisational knowledge andvery low experience on the part of the EB. As such, the direction for the first half of the term hasbeen on strengthening and empowering EB and membership base while the second half wouldbuild on focusing on any feasible exchange programme.

EBThere is currently no strong EB team in the LC but have very committed members who haveassumed the EB role comprising of an elect and four dedicated members.

Challenges Opportunities-Weak Member knowledge -Very committed and motivated EB & members-Little or no experience on the part of EB -Rich market for IGCDP & OGCDP
