From the Pastor’s Desk Saying goodbye or farewell to people that are close to you, and that you love and care about is, for

most of us…not an easy thing to do. Although we usually do not easily embrace change and transition

in our lives, both are unavoidable and so very necessary to our lives, our relationships, and our

relationship to God… and all of God’s good creation!

We have been engaged in this “dance” for the past three months and will soon complete it in just a

few short weeks on June 17th. In preparing for this season of transition, I want to reiterate a few

thoughts from my March letter and last years’ Lenten Sermon Series on John Wesley’s Three Simple

Rules: Do No Harm, Do Good, Stay in Love with God. Good guidelines for anyone at anytime… but

especially, it occurred to me, for us; a Church and Pastor in transition. What really catches my eye is

the admonition to “Do Good!”

It is my hope and prayer that… if we do nothing else during the next seven weeks… let us focus on

doing good??? Let us DO GOOD!

Step out of your comfort zone… make that call (you’ve been putting off)… give words of

support and encouragement… forgive someone (for that stupid thing, that happened so recently, or

so long ago that you have been carrying around)… share (whatever your talent is)… take the

chance… break the ice… be the person you wish the other person would be… LOVE! … I have learned… that I have an awful lot yet to learn. But, I do know that people love a warm hug and a pat on the back… that people will forget what you said, but never what you did, and most of all, like me, like you… will never forget how you made them feel.”

God Bless, And…See you in church! Pastor Gil

Deadline for July “Friendly Flyer” is June 18th, 2012 Watch for Pastor Monica’s debut “Pastor’s Page” and updates! Again, not to give

Volunteers Needed!! Did you know that AUMC receives over

$3,000 a year by something as simple as

collecting Weis/Mr. Z receipts? We need 2 or

more volunteers to learn the process of tabulating and submitting them to Weis for

rebate checks.

This is a great way to serve, and you can do it without ever

leaving your home, or attending a meeting! Contact Ute on (610)

599-1624 for FREE ON-THE-JOB TRAINING!

The Food Panty needs our help. Food is taken monthly.

Remember to keep bringing WEIS receipts (Mr. Z’s).

Special Thanks to: Al & Karen Miller of Bath, PA for their $200 donation for

fixing the lighting/fan fixture in the sanctuary!

Bonnie & Jim Commins for donating the funds for the new

literature display rack, now proudly installed (by Mr. Jack Davies)

and presented in the Narthex!

Honoring Volunteers

On May 20, 2012, we will be holding a special church service and luncheon to honor the public servants and volunteers of Washington Township. We will ask each organization to submit the names of individuals they wish to honor in a special part of the service.

This service is a way that our Outreach Committee and Community Care Ministry have teamed together to take our service to Jesus Christ “beyond the walls of A.U.M.C.

We will need many hands to successfully complete this project. Everything from food prep/serve and making sure the Church is ready to welcome visitors, such as cleaning, extra seating, bulletin preparation, etc. Please plan to take this opportunity to “get involved” and serve those who serve us.
