October, 2021
Great things are happening here at Newtonville UMC! Just yesterday we gathered for a spirit filled worship. Following worship we had a beautiful day for coffee hour outside, where I got the chance to speak with two different individuals who have been visiting, but who have come back for three weeks in a row! Both folks told me how welcome they feel here, and that they will be coming back again. Then after worship I spoke with a gentleman who had been a member here around 20 years ago. He and his wife were on a trip across the country and he wanted her to see Newtonville UMC for herself. She told me that if they ever moved back to Albany, this would be their church! I share all of this as a complement for all of you. I haven’t been here long enough to take credit for the loving, caring and welcoming church that you are…but it does make me proud to be your pastor! It also makes me extremely excited about our future together! Please join me for a listening, planning, and dreaming session on Wednesday October 13th, either from 1-2:30pm, or 7-8:30pm in the Grace Krause lounge. This is a time for you to share your favorite memories of your time here at NUMC, your dreams for the future, and any challenges as you see them facing us right now. Bring all of your good ideas! There will also be some time for fellowship and getting to know one another better. I’ll have the coffee on! I look forward to seeing you all there. See you in church! Nick
The Mission of Newtonville United Methodist Church is to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ
and to be God’s love with our neighbors in all places.

ALL CHURCH WORK DAY The Trustees have scheduled the fall workday for October 16th. It is a time for us to do some cleaning up both inside and outside, a time talk with other members and a time to reflect on our many blessings. We will gather in Fellowship Hall at 8:30 for coffee, juice, danish and other goodies. From there we will break into smaller groups and head off to our various jobs on the to-do list. As always, we plan on ending by noon. We hope to see you there.

We will be using the book Rehearsing Scripture: Discovering God’s Word in Community by Anna Carter Florence as our foundation, as we study the lectionary texts for worship each week. We will start each meeting with song, study and apply God’s Word to our lives today, and pray for one another each week. Mark your calendars and look out for the Zoom link, which Pastor Nick will send out as we get closer. Call or email Pastor Nick if you have any questions! Spread the word and invite your friends!
