As the Summer Concerts in the Park Series winds down, there is still plenty of time to hear some fantastic music! Once again, the food stand opens at 5pm, serving hot off the grill hot dogs, brats and pork patties. On Aug 9, the Chamber will be grilling Ribeye Sandwiches. A free dessert courtesy of Petersen Health Care is served at 6:15pm. Music begins at 6:30 and usually runs until 8:00pm. Bring your lawn chair to Veteran’s Park and join us!

July 4, 2018, will go down as one of the best fireworks shows in Kewanee. This fourth was a warm day with a few spotty showers. There was a small rain delay for local favorite Joker’s Wild’s performance, but the night culminated with another successful fireworks display for a very large and responsive crowd! The Chamber of Commerce thanks all who attended and a special thank you to the following people and businesses who with their help there would be no fireworks display. We are in need of Corporate Sponsors to underwrite this yearly event. To make sure this community event happens next year, please send your donation to the Chamber office marked “fireworks.”
A Fourth to Remember
The Chamber of Commerce thanks these individuals and businesses.

World Festival Pageants
The Chamber of Commerce is once again hosting the Miss World Festival Pageant. The pageant directors are Jeanna Moore and Stephanie Smith. They continue to work hard to provide a quality pageant to crown a queen to rule over the Hog Days Celebration. Queens chosen are Miss World Festival, Jr. Miss, Little Miss, and Mini Miss. The Chamber would like to thank all of the many members who make contributions to the pageant. This year’s queens will be selected on August 4, at Petersen Auditorium at Kewanee High School.

Af ter Hours•
Thank you to Courtyard Village for hosting a Business after hours in July. We had a great turnout and learned about Betty’s Garden, the new Alzheimer facility soon to open in Kewanee. If your business would like to host a Chamber After Hours, please call the Chamber office at 309-852-2175. You provide the space and refreshments, we will do the rest. Let’s pick a date!
Kewanee’s Outstanding Citizen
Over 90 people were in attendance on Saturday, June 30 to honor Jerry Salisbury for being recognized as Kewanee’s Outstanding Citizen for 2018. Jerry thanks all the people who have helped him through the years. The banquet recognizing service to the community was held at the Flemish American Club. Also recognized with a Meritorious Award was the Kewanee Veterans Council. They arrived in uniform to accept the award. Thank you all for your continued service to our community!
Kewanee Chamber of Commerce and Kewanee Preservation Soci-ety send a huge thank you to Jim Womack, Jordan Womack, and Rick Leaf for their help with se-curing a bit of Kewanee history. The Kewanee Boiler shop is be-ing torn down and this sign was recently uncovered. It covered what was formerly an exterior wall facing Rose Street. It has been removed and over the win-ter will be assessed and rejuve-nated to hopefully once again be seen by the public.
A Bit of History
The Chamber of Commerce is looking for a good location to house Bubble Gum Machines. Your business has a choice as to which machine you would like. The owner comes, cleans, and stocks the machines. The Chamber of Commerce is the sponsoring organization and earns a dividend for gum or candy purchased at each machine. We are looking for ways to supplement revenue for the Chamber.
Looking for another way to support the Chamber?
