Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington is excited to offer three great resident camps open to all girls entering grades K-12. Each session is geared toward the grade the camper will be entering in the fall of 2013. There are also programs at all of our sites for adults and girls to enjoy camp together. Girl Scouts is open to all girls. Our organization values diversity and inclusiveness and does not discriminate on any basis.

Camp Arrowhead is located in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge near Stevenson, Washington. This camp offers specialty programs in leadership development, adventure travel and traditional camp activities. Camp Arrowhead also features a climbing wall providing safe challenges and personal growth. Home Lake offers opportunities for swimming, canoeing and the study of endangered Western pond turtles. Campers in grades 4-12 can participate in archery.

Camp Cleawox is located near Florence on the Central Oregon Coast and is surrounded by the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. This camp offers specialty programs in aquatics, ocean studies, art, adventure travel and traditional camp activities. Camp Cleawox offers a unique mix of aquatic activities including a large fresh water lake for swimming, kayaking and canoeing, as well as access to the Pacific Ocean. Most groups have the opportunity to visit the beach for activities such as tide pooling, sand castle building and more. Camp Cleawox offers archery for campers in grades 4-12.

Camp Whispering Winds is located south of Corvallis in the central Willamette Valley. This camp offers specialty equestrian programs as well as traditional camp activities. This is our only camp with on-site horses, which allows for girls in equestrian programs to fully experience horseback riding instruction and horse care. Most girls in non-equestrian programs will visit the horses. Girls canoe in Burgett Creek on a small lake. Camp Whispering Winds also features a swimming pool.

Tiered PricingWhy are there three prices listed? What do I actually pay? GSOSW has adopted tiered pricing to keep camp affordable for all families while also expressing the true cost of camp. All campers will enjoy the same camp experience regardless of which price the family can afford. Tier one is the actual cost to run our camps. This reflects staffing, program supplies, food and maintenance costs. Tier two is a partially subsidized cost of camp, for families that can pay a little more but not the actual cost of camp. Tier three is our standard subsidized fee. Please pick the tier your family can afford. Tiered prices are listed with each camp session description in the following order: tier one/tier two/tier three. Note: When using Personify registration system online, only one price will be visible (Tier 1). To select another price after registering, see camper confirmation.

Financial AssistanceFinancial assistance to attend resident camp is available for all girls who live within our council jurisdiction (see map on Page 1 of this brochure). To apply, use the form included with this brochure or visit the Resident Camp page at girlscoutsosw.org. All information collected for resident camp financial assistance is kept confidential. Information regarding resident camp financial assistance will be sent to you separately from your camper packet and should arrive a few weeks after receipt of your application.

Medical AccommodationsGirl Scouts OSW will make reasonable effort to accommodate medical needs. If your camper needs specific accommodations, please contact Lauren Shapiro (see information below) to discuss a possible arrangement. You are encouraged to disclose medical conditions, special needs, allergies and dietary restrictions on your Health History/Camper Release Form. Understanding your camper’s needs helps camp staff ensure the best possible camp experience for your girl.

Camp with a FriendWhen two campers want to attend a camp program together, they should each indicate that they want to be “buddies” on their registration form. This will ensure that the campers sleep in the same dwelling. Both campers must meet the grade requirements for the program. Buddies will be encouraged to also get to know other girls in the unit and will not always be in the same day/activity group. Buddy groups of more than two may not be accommodated.

Trading PostThe trading post (camp store) will be at resident camp this year! Packages will be available for pre-order and merchandise will also be available for campers to purchase while at camp. Money for packages and camper accounts must be paid two weeks prior to the camper arriving at camp. See camper confirmation for details.
