Final taster of summer took place at COY on June 30th with summers program for Halton now
virtually being full once again. Some of our older COYACTION volunteers aged 18/19 have got
support worker posts on the summer program and most of our year 11 members are now signed up
to participate in July and August. Also Halton NCS CYL have had the chance to work with Halton
community radio this month 10-12 on Fridays with the possibility there may be a regular NCS show
to promote the NCS, recruit as well as talk about social action with young people playing their part
and also being in the show.

Shaznays story:-
COY monthly report june 2015 Page 6 of 10 6
I started at COY first as a member then they got me onto NCS and I started as a young coyaction
volunteer about a year and half ago. When I first started I was shy but also could get involved in
arguments and couldn’t control my temper often. When I was at school I was bullied and was
kicked out of school to and ended up at the PRU in Grangeway. I have had a lot to deal with in
mylife at home to and went of the rails and would have lots of arguments and haveeven been kicke
dout for that to, I would drink a lot which I nearly lost my life over and relationships were hard as I
would get angry all the time. I cant thank COY enough forwhat the people have done in there for
me, they gaveme confidence, help me gain more with programs and the training they have put on
like NCS and I am now not only volunteering at COY but helping NCS to. COY has helped me get
out of bad habits like drinking and everyone who volunteers are like one massive family that I love
being a part of.
Shaznay told this story to the area forum and has kindly agreed to let us share this outcome to
highlight the poositive outcome of COY on her life and her story is quite common and we have seen
many similar grow and develop and take a positive path.
CHAPS
alternateThursdays 7.00pm-8.30pm
The Chaps clubs are now running every Thursday and continue to be supported by our
COYACTION young volunteers. The senior session is now being extended to run longer as it is
proving very popular with members.

COY 7-11
Junior 7-11 club running Monday to Friday 4-6pm. Membership is now in double figures and
growing as word is finally travelling. The club has given many fun opportunities in play, games, art
and music. This month members had the chance to make their own homemade pizzas with 100%
natural ingredients, showing them how to make fast food healthy and on a budget. Many are
enjoying expressing themselves on the mic being able to sing and do karaoke using our music
equipment and generally enjoying the many vast oportunities our junior club offers.
