Winemaking

This wine is a blend of the five Riojagrape varieties which were vinifiedseparately, as they attained optimumripeness. Vinification aimed toenhancethevirtuesofeachvariety:thebalanceandeleganceofTempranillo;the fruit expression of Garnacha; thepowerofMaturanaTintaandthespicyfreshness of Mazuelo andGraciano.Afterthefinalblend,thewinewas aged for four months beforebottlingin225LFrenchandAmericanoakbarrelstattooedwiththevaluesofViñaPomal.

Viticulture

Rioja’s five varieties were used tomake this wine, each contributing adifferent note to the blend. In order toleverage the distinctive characteristicsofeachvariety, thegrapescomefromdifferent soils in different areas inRioja. The Tempranillo comes fromclay-limestonesoils inHaro, from thebestplotsofViñaPomal;theGarnachafrom high-altitude vineyards withgravelly soils in Rioja Media; theMaturanaTintaandMazuelofromRiojaBaja, where they achieve perfectripening, and the Graciano fromalluvialsoilsinRiojaAlta.

Vintagecharacteristics:

The2015vintageinRiojawasmarkedbyaverycold,wetwinterwithsnowtoensure water availability in thevineyard. A storm in late springcomntributed additional water. Goodspring weather and a very warmsummer, brought the harvest forward,which, in general, brought top-qualitygrapesinexcellentcondition.

Sensorycharacteristics

Very intense garnet-red with bluishhues.

Extremelycomplexnose,witharomasof red fruit, violets, white pepper andspices blending with light vanilla andcoffeehints.Amiable,freshandlivelyinthe mouth, with great body andpersistentfruit.
