“Pentecost Will Change You!” Acts 2:1-21
Pentecost is one of the three main Jewish Festivals that the LORD commanded His People to celebrate after they were freed from their bondage in Egypt (Exodus 23:14-17). The other two festivals are Passover and Feast of Tabernacles. Pentecost was an agricultural festival. It was the day that the grain farmers would bring the first bundle of wheat from their crops to the Temple and offer them up to the LORD (Exodus 34:22) as a thanksgiving offering. Pentecost also honored the anniversary of the Day that the LORD gave His Teachings to the whole nation of Israel at Mt. Sinai. Pentecost was the day that God revealed more about Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It should not surprise
us that the LORD used both Passover and Pentecost to explain the true mission of His Son, Jesus - God in Flesh. On Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was poured out as a signpost revealing to us that in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit we are now able to live as genuine human beings who can reflect God's Image and Glory both today and forevermore. In the Holy Spirit we can live a life that is full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Questions: 1. What was celebrated at Pentecost? 2. Why did the Spirit come at Pentecost? 3. What kind of life do with now have the Holy
Spirit?

Message in the Pew May 2018
Greetings and blessings to you in our Ascended Lord Jesus! Indeed! Our Savior has lived, died, rose, and now is bodily ascended to prepare a place for you (John 14:1-6). Therefore, heaven is open for you to be in the presence of God as it was meant to be in creation. At the time of your death your soul goes to heaven and on Judgment Day the body from the grave is reu-nited with the soul to be complete as it was meant to be. All cred-it to our loving God who sent His Son to bring things back to the way they were meant to be. May this be your joy as we move into the season of the Church Year known as Pentecost! This season is a season of growth. The paraments in the church are green symbolizing growth. Even though summer can be a busy time of vacationing, camping, fishing and so forth, the Lord still wants to feed you with His Word and Sacraments to keep and strengthen you in your faith through the times we endure until our complete pres-ence with God again. Blessings to you this summer!
Your servant in Christ, ND District President Arie Bertsch
