Hunger in the world is real Over 37 million Americans
struggle with hunger and it is estimated that over 2
billion people in the world do not have regular access
to safe nutritious and sufficient food We need
physical food to live The world is also starving for
lack spiritual food as well As Christians we need
daily spiritual food as seen in the feeding of the five
thousand to sustain our faith life Many people were
following Jesus as he began his ministry They
wanted to hear what he had to say they wanted to
see what unbelievable event might happen next But
many were just ldquoMissing the Pointrdquo The crowds were
so focused on the physical events of Jesus ministry
that they were missing the deeper spiritual message
(food) that he was giving them Jesus the Bread that
Satisfies Jesus once quoted Deuteronomy 83
which reminds us that ldquoman shall not live by bread
alonerdquo We can exist physically without really living
We can live our lives on earth and yet never
experience what it means to have true life Hunger is
an indication of a need so is thirst We hunger and
thirst physically eventually we could not live without
it More importantly we cannot live spiritually without
Jesus He is the Bread which satisfies the eternal
hunger of our souls We cannot live without Jesus if
we are truly His followers
