    4th Grade News Important Dates

    Character Word: Responsibility

    Weve had another great week. We are definitely working hard and digging deeperinto our learning.

    We have started fractions this week and will continue our learning into next week.We have discussed the numerator and denominator as well as equivalent fractions.Our discussions about where we see and use fractions in our daily life surprised theclass. We use fractions everyday for so many different things, calendars, attend-ance, lunch count, etc!

    In reading we began looking at nonfiction text features. This carried over into our

    social studies and science instruction as well as in reading books and magazines. I amplanning to make notebook pages next week using non-fiction articles. If you havematerials we can cut up and use, please send them in on Monday.

    In social studies we finished learning about Missouri cities, rivers and the surround-ing border states. Next week we will continue looking at the regions of Missouri.

    This year, there will be a Halloween Costume Exchange. If you have a costume inclean and good condition, you can send it to school. You will then be able to shop for anew to you costume for this Halloween. Please see the attached flier with more in-

    formation.

    Next Friday will be our classrooms day to run the mile in PE. Please make sure tosend your child in tennis shoes and possibly a jacket if its chilly that day.

    Grandparents Day is the 29th at 9:00 We have been working hard to write astory about a special memory with a grandparent. The students are so proudof their work. We are looking forward to sharing some time with Grandpar-ents.
