Chaplaincy Programme I have written to keep you informed of changes in the chaplaincy programme that we use at our school.   As you may have heard, the National Schools Chaplaincy Programme is  changing at the end of this year to the National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Programme.  This new programme builds on the success of the current scheme in supporting local school communities in the way they implement student welfare and support services.   A few of the changes are :  A new title for the programme  Minimum qualifications required  Choice of school chaplain or student welfare worker, and  Improved complaints handling plus other administration changes.  In Wee Waa, these changes will have a little effect on the overall delivery of the chaplaincy programme that we     currently use, as we have always exceeded the minimum requirements needed.   All the schools that currently have   a chaplaincy programme in Wee Waa have indicated that they are not only happy with the current arrangement and value the work that the chaplains do around the school but would also like it to continue.  The change in programme has allowed us to assess how the programme is delivered in Wee Waa.   One change      that we will implement is a Chaplaincy Newsletter that will keep you informed about who the chaplains are and      any programmes or courses and events they are organising.   The newsletter will also be a steady reminder that the chaplaincy programme is an “opt in” service and that students are under no obligation to participate in the pro‐gramme.  However, we would like feedback from you regarding your thoughts about the chaplaincy programme.   It would      be greatly appreciated if you return the completed survey to the school so we can complete our application for         chaplaincy for next year.  Kind regards, SIMON CARTER,  Wee Waa School Chaplaincy Co‐ordinator). ....................................................................................................................................................................................... Please complete and return.  Do you think the chaplaincy programme should continue at school.        Yes      No  What improvements do you think could be made to the programme?  .......................................................................................................................................................................................  .......................................................................................................................................................................................
