Welcome Kindergarten Class of 2016
between 5:00 & 7:00pm we
would like to invite parents
to a Meet the teacher event.
With many new teachers we
thought it might be a great
opportunity for parents to
meet the teachers who are
responsible for the educa-
tion of their children in
2018. Infants teachers will
throw open the door to their
rooms from 5:00 to 5:45pm.
It will be an opportunity for
parents to ask questions and
hear the expectations of
teachers for this year. At
5:45pm we will have a sau-
sage sizzle under the Prima-
ry COLA followed by open
classrooms in the Primary. If
children attend they can be
left under the supervision of
Mr Carrett, Mrs Smith and
Mrs Lindsay at the COLA and
will be able to use the Prima-
ry play equipment and may-
be have a go at the cricket
bowling machine. The even-
ing should conclude around
7:00pm. I realise some par-
ents may wish to visit multi-
ple classes so please talk to
staff and they may be able
to see you at another time.
Last week saw a number of
activities get underway for
2018. The PSSA cricket
squads have been formed
and have started training.
Mr Lever is taking the boys
team who are training dur-
ing lunchtimes and each
Tuesday afternoon from
3:00 to 4:00pm. Mr Carrett is
taking the girls team and
they are also training during
lunchtime and each Thurs-
day afternoon. The boys play
Burren Junction out at Bur-
ren and the girls play Narra-
bri West in Narrabri in early
March. Notes will be sent
home as soon as match de-
tails are finalised. Mrs Cur-
rey is also collecting names
of those students who want
to try out for zone represen-
tation this term.
This week scripture gets un-
derway on Thursday with
Primary classes between
12:00 and 12:30pm and In-
fants classes between 12:30
and 1:00pm. Following scrip-
ture each week Mr Carrett
will conduct Choir. Primary
choir will consist of those
students who wish to take
part and their first perfor-
mances will be at the end of
term for Grandparents Day.
Infants choir will consist of
all students from Kindergar-
ten to Year 2. Rehearsals will
be held in the hall or the
kindy room and will go for
30 minutes.
This week there are two
exciting events happening.

Contacting the School From time to time issues arise
and parents need clarification.
We are also human and some-
times make mistakes! If par-
ents need to discuss an issue
the process is :-
1. Ring the school to make
an appointment with
the classroom teacher.
2. If after discussion with
the teacher the issue
remains unresolved
then Mrs Smith who is
in charge of Primary and
Mrs Lindsay who is
charge of Infants are
available to consult
with.
3. If the issue remains un-
resolved then seek a
meeting with the Princi-
pal. Our aim is always to
assist every student to
achieve their best in the
classroom, in the play-
ground, on the sporting
oval and in life. It does
take a village to raise a
child!
Finally last week the executive
started visiting classes to hand
out awards for playground and
classroom excellence. This
week Mr Toomey will start
visiting classes with attend-
ance awards. We are con-
sciously making an effort to be
as positive as possible with
every student.
Mrs Smith who is in charge of
detentions and our behaviour
levels was very pleased to in-
form me on Friday that every
student was on green level.
This is a trend we want to see
continue all year.
The other exciting event this week is the annual zone swimming championships in Narrabri on Friday.
Our school is taking a strong squad capable of causing plenty of upsets. Last year 14 students qualified for
the regional championships. How many more will make it this year? Miss Raymond, Mr Toomey and Mrs
Currey will take charge of our students. All students who have qualified received a note about the carnival
last week.
Library Days
Years 3—6 will have library
every Monday
Kindergarten—Year 2 will
have library every Tuesday
Narrabri Eisteddfod
Entries are now due for the
2018 Narrabri Eisteddfod.
As in past years the school
will enter classes and spe-
cial groups. The cost for
any individual entries will
be the responsibility of par-
ents. The school will send in
the entries if parents have
submitted the payment to
the office. Closing date is
Tuesday 27th February.
Attached to the newsletter
is a copy of the speech and
drama sections popular
with our students. The cost
of these sections is $8 per
entry. If students wish to
enter dance or music sec-
tions as an individual and
they would like to see the
program please visit the
office and talk to Mr Car-
rett.
