Warner Robins GA was established in 1821 as a former farming community named York, and was later changed to Wellston in 1865 in honor of the chief engineer who helped established a railroad route north to Macon. In 1943 Wellston was renamed Warner Robins in honor of Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins.
