GATHER A time to meet, greet and welcome one another.

CHIMES The chimes call us to silent readiness.

PRELUDE You Are My Hiding Place Michael Ledner

arr. Mark Hayes

PASTOR’S GREETING, INTRODUCTIONS AND LIFE OF THE CHURCH

CALL TO WORSHIP L: God calls us to this place, a haven of healing and hope. P: We come, with the pain of our burdens. We come to hear God's Word of hope for us. L: Together, we will sing songs of joy. Each of us will hear God whisper our name, 'Beloved of my heart.' P: We join our voices in prayer and praise; we sing of our longing for new lives. L: Here, our shadowed corners are filled with Light. Here we discover that God dwells in us. P: And not just us, for God would teach all to love; God's Spirit would lead all peoples in peace. L: Let us give glory to God!

HYMN #14 For the Beauty of the Earth DIX ST. DENI (See music in bulletin)

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Because You dwell in our hearts, Eternal God, You know how the anger, the pain, the bitterness of our thoughts try to edge You out. The noise of the world deafens us to Your Word which would heal us. We want to be good, kind, and gentle, and then hear ourselves call others names, or speak of ourselves with demeaning words. Our desire for revenge toward those who have hurt us shows active rejection of Your peace. You promise a new heaven and a new earth. Create new spirits and new lives within us, Healing God. Shattered by our sin, we are paradoxically closer to Your healing. Your Spirit, living deep within our souls, can teach us faithful ways. Your Word, Jesus Christ our Lord, tells us of Your mercy, Your hope, Your love.

(Silence for personal confession.)

Amen.

DECLARATION OF PARDON L: The Word which can transform us is not some idle gossip, but good news for us. It fills us with forgiveness, equips us for service, and sends us forth to love others as God loves us. P: In our midst, the Holy Spirit teaches us all we need to know, gives us what we need in order to be faithful, and fills us with peace. Thanks be to God. L: Let us stand and give glory to God!

GLORIA PATRI Hymn #579 Glory be to the Father And to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, Is now, and ever shall be, World without end – Amen, Amen.

PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

ANTHEM Come Away Mark Hayes

Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away. Arise, my love so beautiful, and come away. For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time for singing has come! Ah!

The voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig trees are bursting with buds and the promise of fruit. The grapevines are fragrant with blossoms. How delicious they smell, spring is here and my heart is filled with love!

Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm. For love is as strong as death, and passion, fierce as the grave. Many waters cannot quench love, quench love, All the world’s riches cannot buy love.

Arise, my love, my fair one, my love, and come away. Arise, my love so beautiful, my love, and come away. For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time for singing has come! Ah! Ah! Arise, my love, and come away.

OFFERTORY Memoria in Aeterna James Mansfield

DOXOLOGY Hymn #592 Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

PRAYER OF DEDICATION

SCRIPTURE READING: Acts 16:9-15 (NRSV, Pew Bible p. 900) 9 During the night Paul had a vision: there stood a man of Macedonia pleading with him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 When he had seen the vision, we immediately tried to cross over to Macedonia, being convinced that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them. 11 We set sail from Troas and took a straight course to Samothrace, the following day to Neapolis, 12 and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We remained in this city for some days. 13 On the sabbath day we went outside the gate by the river, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down and spoke to the women who had gathered there. 14 A certain woman named Lydia, a worshiper of God, was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul. 15 When she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay at my home.” And she prevailed upon us.

HYMN #33 Praise the Lord! God’s Glories Show LLANFAIR (See music in bulletin)

RITE OF PRAYER FOR HEALING AND WHOLENESS CONCLUDING WITH THE RECITATION OF THE LORD’S PRAYER

“Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up…” (James 5:13-15).

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power

And the glory, forever. Amen.

LLANFAIR7.7.7.7 with alleluias

Originally cast as two eight-line stanzas, this 19th-century paraphrase of Psalm 150 was slightly shortenedwhen it was set to the present tune with recurring Alleluias. The Welsh tune is actually older than the textand bears a name meaning “the church of St. Mary.”

BIBLE STUDIES & FELLOWSHIP “Open my eyes, so that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.”~Psalm 119:18 (NRSV)

IGNITE YOUTH -- God does not call us to be “lukewarm” believers. He wants all of our hearts, all of the time. Let’s grow together and learn how to ignite our faith so that we can do our best to always be believers on fire for Christ. Open to all youth ages 6th grade through 18 years old. Sundays year-round at 10:15 AM, and Tuesdays during the school year from 3:30-5:30 PM in the Youth Room. For more information, contact Kelsey Claire at 928-445-4536 x110 or [email protected].

INTERSECTIONS CLASS is currently studying and discussing the book The Divine Dance: The Trinity and Your Transformation by Richard Rohr and Michael Morrell. This book delves into the central doctrine of the Trinity using one of the metaphors of the early church leaders who described the one God who is three persons as a divine dance. The book discusses how a deeper conception of Father, Son and Holy Spirit can transform our relationship with God and renew our lives. All are welcome. Sundays at 9:00 AM in the Sicatuva Room.

TRINITY 4KIDS is our program for children up to 5th grade. We meet year-round on Sundays at 8:30 AM and 10:15 AM in the Children's Center (through Grace Mitchell and downstairs). Come join us for fun lessons and activities! For more information contact Jennifer Garber at [email protected] or 928-445-4536 x114.
