Equal Remuneration Project Communiqué No. 2 – Project Update Fair Work Australia Order As mentioned in Communiqué No. 1, we are waiting for advice from Fair Work Australia regarding the final order for the Equal Remuneration Case following their meeting on Friday 15 June. Fair Work Australia issued a Notice of Listing on Tuesday 19 June, advising that there will be a review hearing on Monday 25 June for the Modern Award. It is important to note that the current definition means that the Equal Remuneration Case is only for Social and Community Services (SACS) and Crisis Accommodation employees within the modern award. This hearing has at least one Matter that includes recommended changes to the award classifications so that disability is removed from the Home Care definition: home care sector means the provision of personal care, domestic assistance or home maintenance to an aged person or a person with a disability in a private residence” This has a potential impact on our project, as this would change the number of staff affected by the Equal Remuneration Case. There is no other advice at this stage. Information gathering A small team has been set up to work on a salary census for community sector organisations. A draft survey is being prepared for the Steering Committee to consider first week of July. This data collection will help government make decisions about funding increases. It will take a bit of work to complete the essential information that is needed, but it really is the only way for us to understand each organisation’s situation. You will be receiving more information about the census in the next few communiqués. FaHCSIA website Does your organisation receive direct funding from FaHCSIA for any of the services you deliver? 21 June 2012
