Holy Roman Empire had collapsed into several small separate states - they didn’t listen to the EmperorReligion - North was Protestant and South was CatholicReformationDefenestration of Prague - Protestant noblemen threw 2 Royal Officials out of a Castle Window in Prague.

• May 1618 Calvinist revolt began when rebels threw two Catholic members of the Bohemian royal council from a window 70 feet above ground

• The two landed on a pile of manure and had minor injuries

• Taking control of Prague, the Calvinist rebels elected a new king Frederick V
