It is not enough for me to love God if my neighbor does not

love God.

—St. Vincent de Paul

May the Lord rule your hearts in the love of

God and the constancy of Christ.

- 2 Thessalonians 3:5

LIFE EVERLASTING The second book of Maccabees tells a powerful story, and a rather gruesome one at that. But central to it, beyond the horrible deaths inflicted upon the brothers and their mother, is their belief in the promise of resurrection and life everlasting in God. Paul asks the Thessalonians to pray for him as he spreads Christ’s message of love, so that he might be delivered from other nonbelievers anxious to do him harm. The apostle is confident in such prayer, just as he is confident in the everlasting support of Jesus and God the Father. And there’s that “everlasting” word again. The Sadducees, not buying the idea, ask Jesus an interesting—albeit meaningless—question about the status of married life at the Resurrection. He tells the non-believers that marriage isn’t an issue for the risen children of God. More importantly, he assures them that their ancestors do live on in God, even as evidenced by the Father’s words to Moses. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

FINANCIAL REPORT

“Active” membership at a Parish enables a person to be eligible to sponsor a child for Baptism, to receive financial aid for Catholic Education, to be married in the Parish and to prepare one’s children for the Sacraments. To be an “active” member is to participate in the life of prayer and stewardship in the Parish. All adults over the age of 21, living with their parents or on their own, must register in the Parish to be considered members. The use of the offering envelopes may also help you to qualify for tax incentives. Participating in one or more of the ministries offered by the Parish is proof of the sharing of time and talent for the greater good of our Church Community. So please pick-up a free registration form at the Parish Office, or print one from our website at www.stbarnabaslb.org. Stop by the Parish Office and we will be happy to help you! St. Barnabas School News SCHOOL STUDENT NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY The school, mindful of its mission to be a witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students regardless of race, color or national and/or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, disability, medical condition, sex or national and/or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs, although certain athletic leagues and other programs may limit participation and some archdiocesan schools operate as single sex schools. While the school does not discriminate against students with special needs, a full range of services may not always be available to them. Decisions concerning the admission and continued enrollment of a student in the school are based upon the student’s emotional, academic and physical abilities and the resources available to the school in meeting the student’s needs.
