This month we will continue our study of the Beatitudes in worship. The Beatitudes are the blessings that Jesus pronounces that come with being a follower of God in all times and seasons. DAILY BREAD—Many thanks to the dedicated EPC ministry team who served a hearty meal of salad, fruit, Shepherd’s pie, cream of chicken soup and dessert to over 250 men, women and children on April 14th. This month’s team included Bill Hoffman, Donna and Bob McKnight, Ron Roberts and our Ministry Leader, Barbara Allen. They were joined by Joelle and Joe Cooper (who will be heading north). The next day to serve will be Tuesday, May 12th from 10:30 a.m. until around 2:00 p.m. In Joelle and Joe’s absence, we will need the assistance of our substitutes. LITTLE THINGS MEAN A LOT—Thank you to the many people who are saving the aluminum pop tabs. Over 75 pounds have been supplied for the Ronald McDonald Charities. Ronald McDonald Houses provide comfort and care to children and families all over the world. Our own June and Tim Leech experienced this generosity when they stayed at one of the McDonald Houses when Baby Brady was in the hospital. June’s grateful comment was “It was a wonderful blessing to be able to stay close. Food, beds and even laundry were available at no cost!” It takes many pop tabs to make $1.00, but every one of them helps the cause. So keep them coming! And don’t forget your Campbell labels, Box Tops for Education, food for the Sharing Center, and stamps. LENTEN LUNCHES—A heartfelt thanks to all who so kindly provided sandwiches for the weekly Lenten Lunches and assisted with the set-ups and clean-ups. Appreciation also to our wonderful soup makers—Claire Gibbs, Joyce Wilfong, Marilyn Riddagh, Nancy Marshall, and Dory Fredrickson EASTER EVENTS—A BIG thank you from the Worship/Music Committee to all who helped in any way in making the events held here during Easter Week a success—from the Palm Sunday processional (with Cocoa Puff), to the Faure Requiem, the Eggstravaganza, and for the donations of the Chancel flowers and the floral cross. WOMEN’S SPRING TEA—It takes a lot of people to put together a successful event. The Spring Tea begins with the planning and baking—we really appreciate those who either prepared the food in their homes or those who came to the church. They were: Susan Vallette, Dory Fredrickson, Judy Davis, Sophie Bryan, Melinda Miller, Nancy Abernathy, Pam Dunn, Joyce Wilfong, Marilyn Riddagh, and Nancy Marshall. A heartfelt thank you to the hostesses who provided such beautiful and creative tables. And to those kitchen volunteers who provided assistance on the day of the Tea—Ann Adams, Bonnie Griffith, Sharon Bowman, Ann Hearin, Fred Allen, Steve Adams, Ed Trader, Gene Davis, Dick Dunn and Jim Bryan. And finally we would be remiss if we didn’t thank Lynda Trader, Chair, and Nancy Marshall, Coordinator. They did a superb job as always in pulling everything together. The amount raised for the Master’s Workshop was $2,724.

SESSION SUMMARY—APRIL 21, 2015 9

Session opened with prayer by moderator, Rev Dr. Tim Rogers-Martin.. Financials: Mar 2015 net gain of $30,181. Net gain for year (Jan-Mar) of $4,726. Included in this gain was

a special gift of $10,000 and accumulation of interest in EPC investment portfolio in excess of $9,000. Good news.

Attendance: Average attendance in month of March was 302 per week, an increase of 24% from last year. Committee Highlights.

Personnel: Motions approved included: (1) Additional fee of $100 be added to funerals for administra-tive costs and clerical staff time, (2) Approval of revised Memorial Garden Agreement with an in-crease in payment to $300, (3) Approval of Room Request/Event/Save-the-day form and procedure, (4) Approval of External Organization Request for Facility Use, (5) Approval to commence procedure to change the call for Dr. Tim Rogers-Martin from “Designated Pastor” to “Installed Permanent Pas-tor” with current terms of call to remain in place for next year. Pastor Tim has accepted that he will stay if called. A new P&A organization chart to be implemented upon the hiring of new staff was passed out for review. It was noted that a new part time Outreach Pastor was on the chart and that an anonymous donor had been identified who would fund that position for up to 12 months. A Motion (6) was approved to accept the Outreach Pastor job description. P&A had already inter-viewed and unanimously recommended a candidate. Motion (7) was approved to hire the Rev Juliann Whipple for the Outreach Pastor position at 10-15 hours/week with a starting date of August 15 with a stipend paid by anonymous donor thereby resulting in no change to the annual budget. Interviews are scheduled for Church Business Administrator and Bookkeeper positions.

Finance: Problems noted earlier in the month by Ian in financial entries to our accounting system have been corrected and financials are again accurate. Indialantic Town Manager is still interested in pur-chasing property next to EPC that we have been discussing with them. Will continue to pursue, but will need Central Presbytery and Session approval on final negotiation.

Facilities: HVAC system is running smoothly but still have to complete the full computer control system. Motion approved to apply window tinting to nursery and choir rooms as well as south halls window

and doors in amount of $2,421. Will aid in keeping those areas cooler and reduce energy expenses further.

Worship & Music: Motion approved to allow the taking of an offering from attendees at two upcoming Florida Metropolitan Orchestra events at EPC in Jun/Jul. Will go to compensate musicians with 10% of the offering returned to EPC.

Missions: Check for $1,000 has been mailed to BIRP as contribution to their water purification equip-ment on their Cuban mission project. Reviewing opportunities to assist in Habitat build next year.

Children/Youth: Staying very busy on preparations for VBS to be held on 8-12 June. Congregational Care: Art Auction for VBS support very successful raising over $4,000, thereby covering

the VBS budget almost in its entirety. Women’s Tea has sold out all 144 tickets available for big success.

Outreach: Working diligently on Law Enforcement Sunday preparations. Motion approved to donate $1,000 to the Brevard County Public Safety Charity, a non-profit organization that provides assis-tance to the families of fallen law enforcement officers. Next Praise and Pizza event on May 8 at 7PM. 2 bands to perform.

Pastor/Moderators Report: Thanks to all committees for excellent ministry during Easter holidays. Had 705 attendees on Easter

Sunday. Old Business Reviewed Master Schedule for upcoming events. Discussed advanced preparations for September 1 quarterly Central Presbytery Meeting to be held at

EPC. New Business - None Next session meeting on May 19 . Meeting adjourned with closing prayer led by Pastor Tim. S/ Clerk of Session
