A Common Surprise for VolunteersMany of our Deck Plate Visitors are surprised that there is more car-go (containers) below the deck than the untrained eye sees stacked on deck. Of course, there are no containers below deck at the vessel’s stern because that is the location of the powerful ship’s engine.

And we think it’s a chore to get our groceries from the car to our kitchen!

Aboard The Maersk DellysThird Officer Leonte Cristian arrives from Romania in clean set of overalls [2nd from left] to relieve Hagi Lancu Cosmim who served as third officer for 6 months. Reefer Techician Mironescu Mitica will stay aboard for a few more months while Cook Augustin Gheorgme [right] will be flying home to Romania.

Thank You to all who gave gifts to the Maritime Bethel in Memory of Captain ‘Anda’ Andersonand June H. Olson [Chaplain Krey’s Mother-in-Law]

Christmas - at - Sea Please think about how it must feel to be thousands of miles away from home and loved ones at Christmas; truly ‘at sea’ in every sense of the meaning. The Maritime Bethel has to start preparing now for sending cherished Christmas gifts far out to sea on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Believe us, it means the world to these seafarers that Christians in the USA remember them and care. Will you and your congregation consider making the wonderful gesture of providing Christmas gifts to those at sea this year? Each ship has a crew of 22 so donations in multiples of 22 are ideal but we appreciate whatever you can spare with our heartfelt thanks. Give us a call 912-826-0206 or contact Christmas-at-Sea 2013 chairperson Shirley Wright at [email protected] or 912-728-4437 / 912-414-6488.
