Terms and Conditions

All bookings are considered provisional until a deposit is received.

A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of £10.00 per person is required to secure all Christmas party reservations.

Final numbers and individual pre-orders must be confirmed one month prior to the event. Should the final numbers be 10% less than previously confirmed a cancellation charge will be levied.

If a cancellation is received less than 48 hours before the date of the event, the full cost of the menu chosen will be charged.

Please note, we do require full pre-payment for disco party night reservations and for all bookings made for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve.

Christmas Residential Programme

At Christmas time York is transformed into a winter wonderland. Wander through the charming cobbled Shambles and atmospheric narrow streets, enjoy magical Christmas displays, visit the magnificent York Minster and experience all our wonderful city has to offer.

The Grange Hotel, situated within a short walk of York Minster and the city’s historic sites, is the perfect place to spend Christmas.

It’s a special place at any time of year but this is particularly true at Christmas when the hotel is beautifully decorated and cosy roaring fires welcome our guests, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

Stay at The Grange Hotel and enjoy all that Christmas has to offer, delicious meals, carols around the tree, a festive atmosphere, the beautiful city of York with its cobbled streets, medieval buildings and historic attractions.

Christmas Eve

We look forward to welcoming you to The Grange Hotel, with check-in from 2:00pm. We’ll help you settle into your accommodation before you relax and unwind in our Morning Room.

Afternoon tea will be served from 3:00pm.

If you can tear yourself away from the blazing open fire, you might like to take a stroll into the centre of York for the traditional carol service at York Minster. Alternatively, wander the shops for those last minute stocking fillers.

At 6:30pm join our General Manager for a glass of champagne and canapés whilst the choir performs a selection of Christmas favourites around the Christmas tree. A delicious four course dinner will then be served in The Ivy.

Christmas Day

Start Christmas Day with a hearty Yorkshire breakfast, or perhaps the lighter option of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. There is plenty of time for you to exchange gifts before our traditional Christmas lunch is served from 12:00 noon.

The afternoon is for relaxation - the Queen’s speech, traditional board games or simply sink into one of our comfy sofas in the Morning Room with a good book and a glass of port.

Weather permitting, you may prefer to meander through the ancient streets and snickleways, under the bars and onto the banks of the River Ouse.

In the evening, enjoy an informal buffet together with a glass of mulled wine.

Boxing Day

The morning is free for you to relax and enjoy York. Stroll by the river, wander through the medieval streets or browse around the shops before we meet up at the Minster for a private guided tour.

York Minster is a world famous artistic and architectural masterpiece. Concentrating on the hidden corners of the Minster, our private tour will visit the vestries, the mason’s loft, as well as the fabulous stained glass windows and recently opened underground chambers. A visit to the Undercroft is billed as “an inspirational, two thousand year, heroic, historic and human journey”, a celebration of the lives of the people who have made York Minster one of the greatest cathedrals in the world.

Following our tour, we will enjoy a traditional Yorkshire pub lunch at the renowned Black Swan Inn. The building itself dates back to 1417, a fine example of bygone medieval craftsmanship.

Then join us for our farewell supper in The Ivy.

Our Christmas programme concludes after breakfast, but why not take advantage of our special post Christmas rates and extend your stay? Give yourself more time to relax and explore the wonderful city of York and its world famous attractions. With rates from just £99.00 per room per night, including English breakfast, why rush home?

New Year Residential Programme 2014

Join us for a glittering New Year’s Eve Celebration, when we say goodbye to 2014 and welcome in 2015 with a fabulous Gala Dinner, piper and dancing until the early hours.

New Year’s EveOur residential programme begins with afternoon tea served in the Morning Room from 3.00 pm. Then join your fellow guests for a glass of champagne whilst listening to our Scottish Piper, followed by dinner in our award winning Ivy Restaurant and Green Room. Our resident DJ will start the celebrations with a disco in the Green Room after dinner. The Piper will see in 2015 with a selection of Scotland’s finest tunes.

New Year’s DayStart 2015 with a wholesome Yorkshire breakfast served in The Ivy until 11.00 am. No need to rush today!

There is so much to see and do in York, why not stay a little longer? Enjoy a day at the races, a round of golf at our local parkland course, browse York’s excellent shops or visit the York Designer Outlet.

Should you for any reason need to cancel your reservation please do so before 1st December 2014 in order to gain a refund on the balance. If a cancellation is made after this date we will of course make every effort to re-sell your room and your table for Christmas Day Lunch or New Year’s Eve Dinner. If this is not possible, a 100% cancellation charge will be levied.

All prices include VAT at the current rate.
