And Friday was finally release day! The beautiful butterflies that the students had seen through their life cycle were set free Friday morning in front of the elementary campus. Although a little timid at first, all of the butterflies eventually took to the skies, much to the children’s delight. Kickin’ around with the middle school Mix beautiful sunshine, 47 restless middle school students, and the mid-afternoon blahs and what do you get? A great day for a kickball game! On Thursday, the 7th and 8th grade boys’ PE class teamed up with the girls who were in Mr. Rike’s history class and Mrs. Mechler’s religion classes for kick- ball. The 7th grade had a game with Coach Evans as pitcher and umpire, and the 8th grade played their own game on the other end of the practice field with Jim Rike as permanent outfielder and Rebecca Mechler jumping in where needed. They all had a great time! Coach Evans and 7th grader Peter Simmons move in to block the next kick. Mr. Rike and 8th grader Cassie Soto work together to get runner Ben Seago out on third. God, our loving Father, we ask Your blessing on Pope Benedict XVI upon the occasion

of his resignation.

Thank You for his years of dedicated leadership in which he faithfuly administered the mysteries of Your forgiveness and love.

Thank You, too, for the outstanding pastoral care he has so lovingly offered us as our Holy Father. May Your Holy Spirit continue to guide him as he now walks a new path.

Gracious God, bless the future of Your Holy church as it now moves forward to choose a new Pope, a new spiritual leader for Your Catholic people.

We pray for the Cardinals as they gather for their Conclave to select the new successor to Saint Peter. With the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, may they choose a worthy steward of Your faith to meet the challenges of today’s world.

We ask all these things in Jesus’ name.Amen.

Prayer for our next Pope Destination Imagination teams advance to state!
