However, a significant number (30%) of managers had difficulty distinguishing between candidates who possessed the right digital skills and those who did not. Meaning, recruiting new digital candidates is difficult as there is no guarantee of their level of knowledge, consequently managers may promote marketers within the organisation as opposed to screening new candidates, based on the level of difficulty when hiring in this industry. In return this is restricting the level innovation and new development occurring in those particular organisations.
