TEAM LEADER - MAINTENANCE POSITION: Junee Shire Council currently has a Team Leader - Maintenance position available for a hardworking, enthusiastic individual to work with their Roads Maintenance and Construction team. The position presents an excellent opportunity to pursue a career in the civil construction industry in the local area. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The position of Team Leader - Maintenance would ideally suit a person who is prepared to work outdoors, have good fitness and health, be willing to learn, follow direction, show initiative and responsibility and have a genuine interest in the roads maintenance and civil construction industry. CONDITIONS: The position is graded in Council’s Salary System, with a salary range of $1421.50 to $1599.91 per week, depending on qualification skills and experience. Employment conditions are as per the Local Government (State) Award 2017 and the Junee Shire Council Salary System including: 9 day fortnight (38hr week) Plus 9.5% superannuation A complete medical fitness assessment will be required to be undertaken by the successful applicant. Purpose of Role:

To provide hands-on management of a small team to deliver road and other infrastructure maintenance projects; focusing on optimising productivity, quality work, safety and environmental outcomes and standards.

Contribution to the Business:

This role helps deliver better quality infrastructure to the community, with reduced liability to the organisation through effectively managing productivity, resources, quality and risk in infrastructure and maintenance projects undertaken by the Directorate.

Key Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for day to day managing of team resources, plant and work plans to achieve compliant, on time and on budget completion of maintenance work on Council infrastructure.

Council infrastructure includes: • Roads, footpaths and stormwater • Parks, gardens, cemeteries, public toilets and playgrounds • Sewerage network 1. Coordinate and supervise assigned work projects and tasks (‘manage the

work’) • Manage daily planning of work tasks and assignments to complete assigned

work and ensure productivity, quality and effective and safe utilisation of plant and other resources.

• Demonstrated ability to work within budgets. • Anticipate and find solutions to issues in order to minimise negative impacts

on the works. • Monitor progress and adjust plans to achieve best results.

2. Lead and direct the team (‘manage the team’)

• Provide direction and guidance to the assigned work team (approx. 3-10 staff);

translating technical concepts and requirements into clear instructions to the team.

• Monitor and coordinate daily activities and performance of team members to progress and complete work projects and tasks.

• Ensure that industry best practice, accepted techniques, established procedures and methods are used to perform tasks; offering guidance as needed.

• Support team members in their personal work performance, through day to day supervision, one-to-one discussions, on the job training and Work Health & Safety (WH&S) awareness.

• Lead team communications and relations to encourage an informed, committed and motivated team. Coordinate regular toolbox meetings and day to day communication to build a positive, productive, safe and rewarding work environment.

• Coordinate and manage team entitlements and work conditions (such as breaks, time off in lieu, overtime, leave, etc.), in accordance with the Award, with a view to fairness, team wellbeing and productivity.

• Identify opportunities for staff development and also gaps in performance, and discuss with Works Manager for appropriate action.

• Respond to enquiries from external and internal customers in an informative, polite and courteous manner.
