POSITION OVERVIEW The Maintenance Planner role sits within the Building Services – Maintenance business function. Key to this role is the successful delivery of Council’s Preventative Maintenance Planning Program, which has a strategic focus on the following areas:
� Introduction of a Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) Approach � Delivery of Preventative Maintenance Planning (PMP) Best Practise � Evolution of Council’s Maintenance Standards and management of sub-contractors
The Building Services - Maintenance business function is a strategic pillar to the delivery of Council’s vision; co-ordinating preventative maintenance best practise to improve longevity and efficiency of Council assets and ultimately unlock positive impact opportunities for the liveability and sustainability of our communities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
� Provide professional and technical advice in all aspects of preventative maintenance best practice; accessing information when required, from a range of internal and external networks and sources such as computerised maintenance management systems and finance reporting systems.
� Ensure condition and risk assessments are undertaken on the TSIRC facilities and major equipment (excludes fleet assets); and that identified needs are incorporated into the maintenance and assets strategic planning processes.
� Ensure that maintenance operations and outcomes comply with relevant Acts, Legislation, Regulations, By-laws, Australian Standards and TSIRC Asset Management policies.

KEY TASKS
� Review the full building and plant assets across all TSIRC locations to identify current condition of asset, document full extent of maintenance work needed to conduct the relevant preventative maintenance, proactive maintenance and continuous improvement;
� Ensure all necessary parts, equipment, services and documentation to perform the maintenance work are documented for entry in a CMMS (APL);
� Assist in the evaluation, implementation and data entry to a CMMS;
� Ensure compliance with relevant Acts, Legislation, Regulations, Australian Standards and Council Asset Management policies;
� Provide professional, technical and authoritative advice in all aspects of CMMS, accessing information when required from a range of internal and external networks;
� Ensure condition and risk assessments are undertaken on Council facilities and liaise with Asset Management to incorporate identified needs into the maintenance and assets strategic planning process;
� Work collaboratively with the internal and external stakeholders.
General � Participate in special projects and perform any other duties as required.
OTHER CONDITIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Regular travel to the Torres Strait Islands is a requirement of this position. The preferred applicant may be required to apply for a National Police Certificate before appointment. TSIRC employees may be required to have immunisations as a control measure against infectious disease if there is a requirement to travel. The employee shall comply with relevant WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and Council’s Workplace Health and Safety Management System. Specifically, the employee shall be aware of, and comply with, WHS Responsibility Statement relevant to the position. Where the health and safety requirements of your duties are identified as high risk those tasks will be allocated according to your capability & level of training. The position may involve and is not limited to the following physical capabilities: a) possible use of hand held power tools, b) lifting, c) kneeling, d) sitting, e) squatting, f) bending, g) reaching, h) repetitive movements and i) exposure to working at heights and confined spaces. PREFERRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
� Minimum degree or trade qualification with a strong electrical or mechanical aptitude; � Maintenance Industry experience, preferably associated with water treatment, desalination
and diesel power generation plants; � Inventory and critical spares assessment and management experience; � Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills; � Must have ability to engage with other departments and deliver accurate outcomes within
tight time frames; � Knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS); � Excellent communication skills;
� A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of languages specific to the Torres Strait including: Meriam Mer, Kala Lagaw Ya, and Creole would be highly desirable.
SELECTION CRITERIA Your suitability for this role will be assessed against the following criteria: SC1 Demonstrated experience in the implementation of a Computerised Maintenance
Management Systems (CMMS) SC2 Demonstrated hands on experience for at least 10 years on planning and coordinating
heavy plant maintenance required. SC3 Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and manage time to achieve a desired
outcome. SC4 Demonstrated experience to develop asset condition plans, identify critical spares and
clearly identify the scope of work associated with preventative maintenance over the life of the asset
SC5 The ability to be culturally responsive through demonstrating an understanding of the
issues affecting Torres Strait Islander people and communicating with sensitivity and effectiveness.
