BENTLY NEVADA SYSTEM 1® TIPS & TRICKS

August 2011, Volume 2, Issue 8

Dear System 1 User, In the August issue of System 1® Tips and Tricks we’ll show you how to enable plots for a first time user, or how to change your plot default settings after you initially set your plot defaults. We hope you enjoy this issue. Sincerely, Your Southern Region FAE team This month’s tip by: Stuart Rochon, Field Application Engineer, Chester, SC

How to set plot defaults for a new user or change plot defaults for a current user

1 Open System 1 Display

2 Connect to the enterprise. Hint: If multiple enterprises exist follow the steps to the right. If only a single enterprise exists, you can use “Quick Connect”. Hint 2: You can set the default for “Quick Connect” in the following screen (see step 3).

3 Select the Enterprise to open. You can also select which enterprise will be the default for “Quick Connect”.

4 Select Default Data Range under Plots. Notice that only trend and tabular list are currently available. Once you add more selections, available plots will show under the “Plots” menu.

5 Select the “Plot Control Selection” tab. Note, only Trend and Tabular List are checked as a default. Check the plots that you would like to have available to you. (If some plots are not listed here they are turned off in your System 1 profile by your administrator).

6 The ones checked here are the most commonly used plots.

7 Since we are in the Default Data Range box we might as well look at System 1 display update rates.

Page 4: Sys 1 Tt Vol 2 Issue 8 Aug11

8 The Static and Dynamic Data update rates refer to how often your screen gets refreshed with data, not how often System 1 samples or stores data. Setting these to 1 second will populate current value trends and current value spectrums with a new data point every second. To make changes to your default choices at a later date, just follow these steps again.

DID YOU KNOW? GE Acquired Commtest, and enhances the Bently Nevada Condition Monitoring Portfolio with portable data collectors and additional technologies. The acquisition of Commtest allows us to significantly upgrade our portable vibration data collection and analysis capabilities. The award winning functionality of Commtest’s Ascent software will be available as a stand-alone platform. However, we are also working on integrating the same functionality into our System 1 platform. Contact your Bently Nevada Sales Manager to schedule a demo of this exciting new offering.
