The 10000 SERIES IDLER isrecommended for medium dutyinstallations. Some of the morepopular applications are in thesand and gravel, agricultural,chemical and food processingindustries.

The 10000 SERIES IDLER isavailable in 4” and 5” diameterrolls with belt widths from 18” to36” and troughing angles of20, 35 and 45

degrees. Impact Idlers,Flat Steel and Rubber Disc returnsare available to suit the particularrequirements of the application.

Rolls and frames are availablefor easy and economical replace-ment of existing idlers. Replace-ment rolls simply drop into slottedholes in the frame. Adapter nutsare available to fit most otherexisting frames.

The 10000 SERIES IDLER isbuilt to the ConveyorEquipment ManufacturerAssociation standards and meetsor exceeds Cema A and Cema Bclassification.

The 32000 SERIES IDLER isdesigned for heavy duty applica-tions. It is recommended for con-tinuous operation where highcapacities are required with heavyabrasive materials

The 32000 SERIES IDLER isbuilt to the Conveyor EquipmentManufacturer Association stan-dards and meets or exceeds CemaC classification.

The 40000 SERIES IDLER isdesigned for heavy duty applica-tions. It is recommended for con-tinuous operation where highcapacities are required with heavyabrasive materials. These Cema Didlers are suited for the increasedloading being used today.

This idler is available with a 5”or 6” diameter roll and in trough-ing angles of 20, 35 or 45 degrees.Belt widths range from 36” to 96”.A wide range of types are avail-able, including Impacts, Self-Training Troughing Idlers, FlatReturns,

Self-Training Returns andRubber Disc Returns.

The 40000 SERIES IDLER fea-tures a complete cartridge endassembly mounted in a precisionmachined roll. All shafts are 30

mm centreless ground to pro-vide accurate bearing align-ment and minimum shaft

deflection. Heavy duty precisionbearings with triple contact sealcartridges ensures long roll life.The rigid frame and inline rollconfiguration is designed to elimi-nate trapped material and therebysubstantially extending roll andbelt life.

The 40000 SERIES IDLER isbuilt to the Conveyor EquipmentManufacturer Association stan-dards and meets or exceeds theCema D classification.

IDLER SELECTION

50000 SERIES SEAL SYSTEMS IDLER BEARINGS

The 50000 SERIES IDLER isdesigned for extra heavy dutyapplications. It is recommendedfor continuous operation wherehigh capacities are required withheavy abrasive materials. TheseCema E idlers are particularlyadaptable to handling ores, cop-per, coal and overburden.

This idler is available with 6” or7” diameter rolls, 35 mm shaftdiameter in troughing angles of20, 35 or 45 degrees and to suitbelt widths from 36” to 96”. Awide variety of types are available,including Impacts, Self-TrainingTroughing Idlers, Flat Returns, 10Degree Vee Returns, Self-TrainingReturns and Rubber Disc Returns.

The 50000 SERIES IDLER fea-tures precision machined rolls andsolid centreless ground shaft toprovide accurate bearing align-ment and minimum shaft deflec-tion. Heavy duty precision bearings and

combination contact and labyrinth cartridge seals ensure long rolllife. The ridged frame and inlineroll configuration is designed toeliminate trapped material therebysubstantially extending roll andbelt life.

The 50000 SERIES IDLER isbuilt to the Conveyor EquipmentManufacturer Association stan-dards and meets or exceeds theCema E classification.

Idler failure is most commonlycaused by contaminants enteringthe bearing and causing seizure ofthe rolling elements. STRONGCOENGINEERED SYSTEMS uti-lizes two sealing systems incorpo-rating multiple elements to pro-vide an effective barrieragainst these

contaminants. System (1) is a cartridge unit con-

sisting of a double lip BUNA ‘N’contact seal which excludes conta-minants from the bearing area. Asteel deflector shield restrictsmoisture and dust fromentering the cartridge seal.A rear seal retains grease and

seals in the bearing cavity.This seal is used in our

30000 and 50000 series rolls.System (2) is a triple lip grease

filled polyurethane shaft contactseal designed to exclude conta-

minates from the bearing cavity.This seal is used in our 40000series rolls.

The STRONGCO ENGINEEREDSYSTEMS IDLER uses a ballbearing that is designed specifical-ly for use in belt conveyor idlers.The design of these bearings pro-vide exceptional tolerances to

contamination, higher basicload ratings and high permis-sible misalignment due to

load. The adjustment so criticalto the proper operation of a

tapered roller bearing is notrequired. Ball bearings, because ofa greater tendency to retain theirlubricant, do not require elaboratelubrication systems. Lubricationtype systems provide a path forcontaminants and requirefrequent

maintenance andpermit damage to seals due to overlubrication. The STRONGCOENGINEERED SYSTEMS IDLERBEARING meets or exceeds theapplicable Cema classification.

"HDD" HEAVY DUTY DRUM CONVEYOR PULLEYThe toughest conveyor applications require ruggedness offered by a "HDD" HeavyDuty Drum Pulley. Steel rims, hubs and discs are fused into an integral componentby a continuous submerged arc welded bond that maximizes pulley strength, bal-ance and concentricity. The use of internal discs, plus heavier than standard con-struction reduces radial deformation of the rim and longitudinal deflection of the rimand shaft. The "HDD" pulley is available in standard face widths from 12" to 66” andstandard diameters from 10" to 60" - intermediate sizes are available upon request.Available with various hub and bushing systems.

SPIRAL DRUM CONVEYOR PULLEYThe Spiral Drum Pulley is formed by a pair of vertical steel bars helically woundaround a "HDD" Heavy Duty Drum Pulley. This unique design reduces buildupbetween the belt and the pulley while providing continuous belt contact for applica-tions where wing pulleys cannot be used. Rotation of the pulley automatically startsthe cleaning action, discharging foreign material to the side of the conveyor. Availablein crown or straight face - sizes 12" thru 24" diameter and supplied with various huband bushing systems.

MINE DUTY DRUM CONVEYOR PULLEYMine Duty Drum Pulleys were originally designed for the rugged environment ofunderground coal mining. Their ultra heavy duty rigid construction has been provenin the toughest conveyor applications. The "good as the shaft" design of Mine DutyDrum Pulleys make them particularly useful for spares or replacement pulleys in crit-ical positions. The Mine Duty Pulleys are available in diameters from 10" to 60" andface widths from 20" to 66". Available with various hub and bushing systems.

THE DUAL DRUM CONVEYOR PULLEYDual Drum Pulley has proven unequaled in material handling installations wheresteel cable and other high modulus belts create excessive loads which cause exces-sive shaft deflection and premature pulley failure. Designed to decrease shaft slopeat the hubs, decrease stress at all end disc weld locations, and eliminate pre-stressing of end discs during assembly with tapered type hubs. Dual Drum ConveyorPulleys are the proven choice for replacement pulleys when premature failureoccurs.

ENGINEERED CLASS DRUM CONVEYOR PULLEYBulk handling systems are moving to larger conveyors and increased capacities. Thehigh modulus, high tension belts require pulleys of much higher capacity and dura-bility than standard units. We have the experience, know how, and equipment to cus-tom design and fabricate pulleys for each pulley location and application. EngineeredClass Pulleys are supplied with various hub and bushing systems including keylesslocking devices used on our profiled and cast disc designed pulleys, which are preva-lent on high tension steel cable belt systems.

EZ MOUNT PULLEY SYSTEMThis unique pulley and shaft arrangement allows for fast, safe and economical bear-ing and shaft replacement without removing the pulley from the conveyor. It reducesmaintenance time, downtime and scrap loss by using rugged engineered stub shafts.The pulley and shaft system is manufactured to CEMA standards and Mine Dutyspecifications.

"MFT" MACHINED FACE TUBE CONVEYOR PULLEYHeavy wall steel tubing and a machined face to ensure maximum strength and con-centricity are key features of the "'MFT" Machined Face Tube Pulley. Available incrowned and straight face widths. Standard pulley diameters: 4", 5", 6" and 8" areavailable with various hub and bushing systems.

“SDE” SINGLE DISC ELEVATOR PULLEYSuperior strength best characterizes the "SDE" Single Disc Elevator Pulley. Used pri-marily in the grain industry, the "SDE" Single Disc Elevator Pulley, with continuousweld on the disc to the rim on both sides of the disc, coupled with heavy duty con-struction and a high compression hub and bushing affords a one-piece all steel, sin-gle disc pulley capable of reducing stress and deflection. The "SDE" Pulley is con-structed with a standard crown face unless otherwise specified. Standard diametersrange from 16" thru 42" and standard face widths 8" thru 16".

"HDW" HEAVY DUTY WING CONVEYOR PULLEYPulley and belt life is extended by the self-cleaning action employed by the "HDW"Heavy Duty Wing Pulley. Individual all-steel wings and gussets expel excessive buildup of material from the area of belt contact which enhances traction and reducesabrasion of both belt and pulley. This pulley features a steel tube between the hubsfor added strength. SPIRAL WING CONVEYOR PULLEYThe Spiral Wing Pulley is formed by half oval bars helically wound towards oneanother, welded to all steel wings, with intervals between them to allow excess mate-rial to discharge to the side of the conveyor. Although similar to a standard wing pul-ley, this design permits continuous pulley contact with the belt during rotation whicheliminates excessive noise and vibration without sacrificing self-cleaning action.Available with various hub and bushing systems.

UNIT HANDLING PULLEYStyle XPU pulleys are exclusively designed for light and moderate unit handling con-veyor applications such as warehousing, assembly lines and package machinery.They are economical, meet CEMA Standards and are available with 4 to 10 inchdiameter and face widths to 52".

PULLEY ASSEMBLIESFor maximum efficiency and added value, we are your single source for conveyorpulley assemblies. We can provide pulley lagging, shafting, bearings and take-upframes to complete the pulley package. Couplings, backstops, and other compo-nents can also be mounted, when required.

SHAFTSConveyor Pulley Shafting is a vital part of the total pulley application. StandardPrecision Shafting is AISI 1045, which represents the higher carbon range in theopen hearth carbon group. Excluding alloy steel, the higher carbon content in a AISI1045 results in one of the strongest steels in the carbon range and machines to asmooth finish. Other alloys, including 4140 are available upon request. Shafting canbe keyed or journaled to meet any specification.

HUBS AND BUSHINGS*We offer a wide range of hub and bushing systems for proper mounting of pulley toshaft. Included are Q.D. Hubs and Bushings (maximum bore 12"), X.T. Hubs andBushings (maximum bore 12"), Taper-Lock Hubs and Bushings (maximum bore 12")and keyless frictional locking assemblies (maximum bore 23.622"). Keyless lockingassemblies are self-contained, high torque capacity units that feature no keywaystress concentration, no axial movement during assembly and high torque capacity.Keyless locking assemblies are used primarily with engineered class pulleys in hightension applications. Other means of securing the pulley to the shaft include press-fit and dead shaft designs. We offer you total flexibility when it comes to mountingpulleys to the shaft.

DEFLECTION WHEELSDeflection Wheels are designed for the deflection of corrugated side wall belting.Cross-rigidized base belting with corrugated sidewalls can be deflected from hori-zontal to any incline and back again with Deflection Wheels. LAGGING

LAGGING FOR CONVEYOR PULLEYSWe have complete in-house pulley lagging capabilities. Every step of the pulley man-ufacturing and lagging process is controlled internally which assures quality, promptdelivery, and competitive pricing of lagged pulleys. Available in a wide variety of stylesand thickness, lagging is primarily used to improve tractive capacity, resist abrasiveconditions and extend pulley and belt life. The style of lagging required is usuallyinfluenced by operating conditions. We offer the following lagging styles: bolt-on,plain vulcanized, herringbone grooved vulcanized and rough top.

CRAFT-LAG™ REPLACEABLE LAGGINGCraft-Lag is bonded to rigid backing which is then formed to a specific diameter.Craft-Lag can be used with or without retainers and is ideal for mining crushed stone,sand and gravel, cement, agriculture, food processing, coal mining, power plants,feed and grain, and general industry.

FAS-LAG™ REPLACEABLE LAGGINGThis easy to install wing pulley lagging system provides additional traction, protectionfor the contact bar and protection for the mechanical splice. While the standard isblack 60 durometer SBR, it can be provided with other compounds and colors.

PULL CORD SWITCHESMODEL RS

WHAT IT IS AND DOES:

The Model RS is a rugged compact safety switch that pro-vides a quick positive shut off of dangerous equipment inemergencies or normal operation. It is actuated by a cablepulled by endangered personnel. The output contacts ofthe Model RS can control up to two separate circuits, onefor machinery shutdown and one for alarm.

WHY IS IT NECESSARY?

Safety minded operators of conveyors, production lines,elevator equipment, assembly lines, material handling sys-tems, cranes, etc. consider it a must for employee protec-tion. Most states have safety statutes that require theseswitches on conveyors and related equipment. AmericanNational Standard Institute recommends their use in ANSIstandard No. ASME B20.1 -1993-5.11. This ANSI standardwill probably soon become part of the Williams-Steiger Actof 1970 the OSHA Act.

EXCLUSIVE FEATURES

1. The Model RS is equipped with a positive safety lock.Having once been actuated, it cannot be accidentallyreset causing dangerous equipment to restart. In orderto reset the switch, the actuation arm must be pushedin and turned. It takes no longer and it makes this a true"safety" switch.

2. The Model RS is installed with cable extending in bothdirections from the actuating handle. There is one elec-trical connection inside. This simple arrangement elimi-nates the double electrical connections required in twoended units employing a separate micro switch forcable in each direction.

3. The actuation force required is simply adjusted in thefield by a change in the position of the cable in holesprovided in the actuation arm. One of our units will han-dle as much cable length as a double ended competi-tive unit and there is no longer a need to specify actu-ating force or right or left handed units.

4. The standard construction of the unit is a corrosionresistant aluminum housing complete with stainlesssteel hardware and red epoxy coated actuation handle.The actuation shaft is of stainless steel. Painted castiron construction is available if necessary. Epoxy coat-ing of either casting is also available if required.

5. The Model RS controls are listed by UnderwritersLaboratories, Inc. and Canadian StandardsAssociation. The general purpose models are listed fornon-hazardous atmospheres. Explosion proof modelsare listed for use in hazardous atmospheres as definedby the National Electric Code handbook and theNational Electrical Manufacturers AssociationStandards for NEMA 7 and 9 hazardous locations.Specifically, they are listed for Class I, Groups C and D;and Class II, Groups E, F, and G.

6. Model RS offers the lowest cost per foot of protectionbecause it incorporates fewer switches and less wiringis required. Cable may be extended in either or bothdirections with no changes required in the internalmechanism of the unit and the wiring is still of a simpleuncomplicated nature.

7. The switch is available with a warning light that may bewired to indicate actuation. This permits easy identifica-tion of actuated switches in areas where visual identifi-cation is difficult.

8. A special version of the unit is available for the miningindustry. This unit is listed by the Mining Safety andHealth Administration as complying with Schedule 2G.Our Listing No. is X/P-2140.

OPERATION INFORMATION


A cable is connected from a fixed point to the cable connection clevis. A pull on the cable with amovement of approximately 1/2” will actuate the switch and and trip the flag arm down, into thewalkway, and lock the switch and flag arm in the actuated position. Unit is reset by returning theflag arm to the normal up position.ACTUATION FORCE:Standard unit is supplied with an actuated (pull) force of 16 lbs. We can supply (at no extracharge) units factory set at 25 lbs. actuating force. This change can also easily be made in thefield by simply reversing the end brushing. The standard 16 lbs. actuation force will allow the useof far more cable, per switch, that would ever be required (over 500 ft. of unsupported cable.)
