18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

El Misal (Ordinario de la Misa) esta en Oramos Cantando/We Pray in Song a Partir de 150

Primera lectura Ex16, 2-4. 12-15

buscar a Jesús.

First Reading EX 16:2-4, 12-15

The whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, "Would that we had died at the LORD's hand in

the land of Egypt, as we sat by our fleshpots and ate our fill of bread! But you had to lead us into this desert to make the whole community die

of famine!" Then the LORD said to Moses, "I will now rain down bread from heaven for you. Each day the people are to go out and gather

their daily portion; thus will I test them, to see whether they follow my instructions or not. "I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell

them: In the evening twilight you shall eat flesh, and in the morning you shall have your fill of bread, so that you may know that I, the LORD,

am your God." In the evening quail came up and covered the camp. In the morning a dew lay all about the camp, and when the dew evaporated,

there on the surface of the desert were fine flakes like hoarfrost on the ground. On seeing it, the Israelites asked one another, "What is this?" for

they did not know what it was. But Moses told them, "This is the bread that the LORD has given you to eat."

Responsorial Psalm PS 78 R. The Lord gave them bread from heaven.

Second Reading EPH 4:17, 20-24

Brothers and sisters: I declare and testify in the Lord that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds; that is not how

you learned Christ, assuming that you have heard of him and were taught in him, as truth is in Jesus, that you should put away the old self of

your former way of life, corrupted through deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created in God's

way in righteousness and holiness of truth.

Gospel JN 6:24-35

When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they themselves got into boats and came to Capernaum looking for Jesus.

And when they found him across the sea they said to him, "Rabbi, when did you get here?" Jesus answered them and said, "Amen, amen, I say

to you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled. Do not work for food that perishes but

for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him the Father, God, has set his seal." So they said to him,

"What can we do to accomplish the works of God?" Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he

sent." So they said to him, "What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do? Our ancestors ate manna in the

desert, as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat." So Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave

the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives

life to the world." So they said to him, "Sir, give us this bread always." Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will

never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst."

Dear brothers and sisters,

Over the course of these summer Sundays, we hear in the Sunday Gospels the whole of Jesus’ “Bread of Life”

discourse from the Gospel of John. It is a reminder to us of the central place the Eucharist has in our lives and in

the life of the Church. As the Fathers of the Church have proclaimed, it is the source and summit of the Christian

life, the mountain top and the headwaters, the destination and the starting point.

Over the course of these summer Sundays, we may be tempted to take a day off, to skip a Sunday in favor of a day

at the beach or catch up on jobs around the house in advance of starting the new school year. We must not forget

that Sunday Mass, the great celebration of the Eucharist, is the event which should be at the center of our lives.

Throughout the world the entire Church comes together on Sunday, the Lord’s Day, as the one body of Christ

united in offering Christ’s perfect Sacrifice to the Father, along with our own sacrifices, for the salvation of the

world. If you ever dreamed of being a superhero called upon to save the world, this is your chance. It is an

invitation from the Lord that you just cannot refuse. It is too important.

Sunday mass is not just an obligation for Catholics, not just the fulfillment of a promise you made in Baptism. It

is a participation in the Lord’s own work of redemption. It is the work of saving the world.

May Christ, the author of our salvation, call you ever deeper into His life.

Fr. Joe

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Queridos hermanos y hermanas:
En el transcurso de estos domingos de verano, escuchamos en los Evangelios todo el discurso de "Pan de vida" de
Jesús del Evangelio de Juan. Es un recordatorio para nosotros del lugar central que tiene la Eucaristía en nuestras
vidas y en la vida de la Iglesia. Como los Padres de la Iglesia han proclamado, es la fuente y la cumbre de la vida
cristiana, la cima de la montaña y la cabecera, el destino y el punto de partida.
En el transcurso de estos domingos de verano, podemos tener la tentación de tomarnos un día libre, de faltar un
domingo a favor de un día en la playa o de limpiar la casa antes de comenzar el nuevo año escolar. No debemos
olvidar que la Misa del domingo la gran celebración de la Eucaristía, es el evento que debe estar en el centro de
nuestras vidas.
En todo el mundo, toda la Iglesia se reúne los domingos, el día del Señor, como el único cuerpo de Cristo unido
para ofrecer el sacrificio perfecto de Cristo al Padre, junto con nuestros propios sacrificios, para la salvación del
mundo. Si alguna vez soñaste ser un superhéroe llamado a salvar el mundo, esta es tu oportunidad. Es una
invitación del Señor que simplemente no puedes rechazar. Es tan importante
La misa del domingo no es solo una obligación para los católicos, no solo el cumplimiento del compromiso lo cual
hiciste en el Bautismo. Es una participación en la obra de redención del Señor. Es trabajo de salvar el mundo.
Que Cristo, el autor de nuestra salvación, te llame a ti cada vez más profundamente en su vida.
P. Joe
Living Our Faith….. Parish Social Ministry
Continuing our reflection on Everyday Stewardship, we reflect on the third characteristic which is being grateful. In stewardship, we are
called to receive everything from God and to respond with a grateful heart. The key, is to be grateful for the everyday, little things that
happen in our lives. Many times, we live our lives going from one extreme to another, or from one bad incident to another giving thanks
for “making it” and not getting hurt. Those are times to be grateful but being an everyday steward means giving thanks for every moment
of our lives. It is ALL a gift from God.
Viviendo nuestra fe… Ministerio social parroquial Continuando nuestra reflexión sobre Everyday Stewardship, reflexionamos sobre la tercera característica es agradecimiento. En
mayordomía, estamos llamados a recibir todo de Dios y responder con un corazón agradecido. La clave es estar agradecidos por las
pequeñas cosas cotidianas que suceden en nuestras vidas. Muchas veces, vivimos nuestras vidas pasando de un extremo a otro, o de un
incidente malo a otro dando gracias por "hacerlo" y no lastimarnos. Esos son momentos para estar agradecidos, pero ser un administrador
diario significa dar gracias por cada momento de nuestras vidas. Es TODO un regalo de Dios.
