Kinasao Newsletter Spring 2017 “And I will make you fishers of men” Kinasao - A place set apart in God’s creation inviting all to experience God’s love. Partners in Ministry Consider a Planned Gift to Kinasao All Things New Look what God is doing!! “From the very beginning, we have expe- rienced God the Creator. God creates order out of chaos. God creates beauty with colors and contrasts of light and dark. God creates humans in God’s image and likeness as part of that creative order. Ever since that first creative effort, God continues to create. With each new day, dark subsides and light shines forth, seeds sprout and produce new beauty, and we all find new potential within our- selves as we face a shared future.” This is the introduction to the summer camp curriculum for Kinasao this coming summer and we are so excited about the message and lessons to be taught as we discover more about our God the Cre- ator! And to be reminded that God brings order out of chaos and renews beauty in our world and in ourselves is powerful. Change is inevitable and through some changes and challenges at Kinasao, we know new strength and growth and beauty will come. And we are excited to see where God is leading! The Kinasao ministry was blessed with a very successful financial year in 2016. Two reasons for this were two unexpected gifts received by the camp. One was a gift of stock market shares and another was an estate gift to Kinasao. These gifts have allowed the camp to both realize some of our wish list dreams as well as put the camp in a positive financial position. Planned giving is a method of supporting nonprofit organizations such as Kinasao that allows donors to make larger gifts than they could often make from their income. A planned gift is any major gift made in lifetime or at death as part of a donor’s overall financial and/or estate planning. Planned gifts aren’t usually complicated. Everyone should have a will that is prepared with the help of a trained professional. Planned gifts often greatly reduce tax burdens on an estate. By remembering Kinasao in our estates we allow the camp to ensure its continuing legacy as a place set apart in God’s creation, inviting all to experience God’s love. There are several common types of planned gifts: • Bequests in wills • Gifts of shares in public or private companies • Transferring or donating life insurance to a charity • Designating an RRSP or TFSA to a charity • Buying charitable gift annuities • Charitable remainder trusts (CRTs) If the camp is already in your estate plan, we offer our deepest and most gracious thanks. If making a planned gift to the camp is something that sounds interesting and you would like more information about the process, talk to your estate planner or contact Dave Bragg at Kinasao either at [email protected] or (306)982-3327.

There is power in numbers and we would liketo increase the number of participants in theTour-de-Kinasao. Just like many hands makelight work, many participants makes for greatresults and great support for our camp!

Last year in the Tour-de-Kinasao we had:

62 participants who each raised an average of

$575 in pledges bringing our total to

$35,600! Nice!

But what if we increased our number ofparticipants by just 10% or 6 new people?

68 participants at an average of

$575 each = $39,000What if we increase attendance by 20%?75 participants at an average of

$575 each = $43,000!!

July 28-31

Family Camp Kinasao has been richly blessed over

the years by the young adults who serve over the summer. These post-secondary agedyoung adults share their faith, gifts and talents withthe Kinasao ministry to help the camp meet itsmission of helping our guests experience God’s love.

This year we invite you to join our Prayer Partnersprogram, created to be a source of support for thesummer staff during the rewarding but very intenseand exhausting summer program. Volunteer prayer

partners will be paired up with Kinasao summer staffmembers. In addition to praying regularly for your summerstaff team member, we ask that you send at least threecommunications (email, postcards, etc.) to your summerstaff member. More information will be sent to you whenyou sign up. Our summer staff will be so much betterequipped to share the Gospel knowing that they are beingprayed for on a regular basis by our Kinasao family.

To sign up, contact Dave Bragg either at [email protected] orat the camp (306)982-3327. Thank you for your support ofthe camp and for considering this opportunity to supportour summer program!
