How can your congregation support Kinasao? Here’s what others are doing. Birch Hills Lutheran Church hosts a weekly coffee time for the community and puts out a Kinasao Loonie Box to collect donations to support the camp. The boxes also serve as a conversation starter with guests and a reminder to keep Kinasao in their prayers. This winter the Partners in Faith Church in Spiritwood held an auction to raise money to send kids in their community to camp! Youth participated by offering services like mowing lawns and shovelling driveways while other prizes up for auction included a private return flight to anywhere in the province, a family wagon ride and wiener roast, as well as many homemade items like pies and quilts! Read what their Pastor, Brock Shaver, has to share about the event: “Partners in Faith is an Anglican, ELCIC & United shared ministry. Our bi-annual Talent Auction raised $7,500 with the community’s support to send kids to camp and other youth ministries. Parents today are so financially strapped that we pay the fees for any children in the community who wish to go to our denominational camps, because our church is not a community, but part of the community. And word gets out about how much fun the dozens of children have had living and learning the Gospel as Kinasao shows them every summer.” Trinity Lutheran Church in Rosthern also sponsors youth to come to Kinasao! In the fall they hosted a Kinasao Sunday at their church where the kids shared with the congregation a few of the lessons and songs they learned at camp. In 2015 Messiah Lutheran Church in Prince Albert hosted the first ever Kinasao Community Camp! We put Kinasao on the road for a week and brought camp to kids in PA who couldn’t make it out to the lake or might not have been able to afford to go to camp. We had a blast during this day camp and loved getting to be directly involved in the ministry that is taking place at Messiah. We hope to expand the program to 4 different Saskatchewan communities this summer. If you want to get your congregation involved in any of the ways mentioned above, OR have your own creative idea to support Kinasao, email [email protected]. We also love to visit congregations and share about what is happening at camp throughout the year. Please contact Katee to request a Sunday visit! With the anticipation of a very dry year aheadand following a year of many forest fires innorthern Saskatchewan, we at Kinasao aretaking additional measures to protect ourcampers and our camp property. Our staff hasbeen coordinating with the EmergencyMeasures Organization of the District ofLakeland to determine and organize the mosteffective evacuation procedures should theyever be needed. Our director and sitemanager have attended a Severe WeatherSpotter Safety seminar and this spring we willbe installing exterior sprinkler systems on allof our main buildings. This system will providea minimum of 2 hours of soaking time shoulda fire on our property be imminent, significantly increasing the chances of savingour buildings. Please pray for the protectionof our camp and all who come here and forthe wisdom and guidance for our leaders whodo their best to take care of this ministry andthis property.

SOJOURNER’S WAY CAMPGROUND IS

Expanding! We are excited for the ministry and now the growth that is happening in ourcampground at Kinasao. Currently we have 30 sites which are either leasedout as long term sites or as daily rental camping sites. But there is moredemand for long term sites than we can currently meet. So we are expanding! This year we are starting the process of adding an additional 20 long term, fully serviced sites, with the potential for another 15 sites in the future. Thesewill be spacious, beautiful spots with plenty of room for larger camping units.Come and check out our progress over the summer and watch for informationlater this year for your opportunity to have one of these long term campsitesas your own personal summer getaway!

For the beautifulscenery, the peaceful and therapeutic motion ofpaddling in the water, the opportunity to getaway from modern technology, the ability tospend time with friends and family who join me,the fabulous meals, the comradery, the ease ofarriving without having to plan the meals androute, the feeling of safety with the Kinasaoguides, the memories that follow... and the listgoes on…”
