Casting and research

• We decided on an all-male cast. This is because when we did research on our audience, we found out the male audiences are more likely to purchase a ticket for a thriller film because our films was a hybrid of a film noir and thriller we decided to not involve women in the cast. Although this is sexiest we decided this was better because in a Noir there are conventions that women are portrayed as being flirty. Today this could be seen as being sexist in itself and more people would complain because we would be stereotyping women and today it could be seen as sexism

Audience appeal

• To appeal to the social groups of the male gender we decided to go towards two themes. One being a more gentlemanly setting and the other being more violent and ‘hoodie’ like. This would show two different types of people. It would show that the older generation is more sophisticated and the younger generation as more radical. This is pretty much accurate of how it is today. This is to challenge stereo-types because if we portray the younger generation as the bad guys, the younger generation may think about their decisions. Which brings me on to my next point. If the younger make bad decisions then someone need to clean up, which is where the more sophisticated detectives come in. They are portrayed as the more sensible and more intelligent group of characters cleaning up and finding out what happened
