SER 158 Solvent AutoExtractor

CONFIGURATIONS

Solvent extraction with the SER 158 can be performed for extractable matter determination on a wide range of sample matrices either in

food and non-food industries (such as pulp, paper, textile, chemical etc...) and for sample preparation. The solid-liquid extraction process

removes the soluble components from solids using a liquid solvent. The SER 158 works in accordance to international standards such as

AOAC, ISO, EPA, APHA, UNI.

FAST EXTRACTION

The automatic extraction process completes fully unattended analysis according

to the Randall method that is five times faster than traditional Soxhlet. The high-speed heating plates in glass-ceramic ensure fast solvent boiling.

MINIMUM SOLVENT CONSUMPTION

The patent pending titanium condensers guarantee the unparalleled solvent

recovery of more than 90% that is collected in cooled recovery tank.

HIGH PRODUCTIVITY & VERSATILITY

The powerful ControlPad is able to control up to 4 SER 158 units

(3 or 6 positions) independently allowing to increase the number of units

according to throughput requirement.

The analysis consists of up to 5 steps to ensure a complete sample extraction

The sample is immersed in boiling solvent for

an effective defatting action.

1 IMMERSION

More than 90% of the solvent is recovered in

the internal recovery tank.

4 RECOVERY

The level of solvent is automatically lowered

below the extraction thimble. Part of the solvent is

collected in the recovery tank, the rest continues

to flow through the sample.

2 REMOVING

The heaters are switched-off and the cups containing the extracts are automatically lifted

to prevent burning of the extracted matter.

5 COOLING

The condensed solvent flows over the sample and through the thimble to complete the

extraction process.

3 WASHING

How to Connect to VELP Ermes Platform SER 158 Series

In order to speed up the connection, be sure to in contact with your IT specialist to get all your laboratory intranet connection details.

Requirements:

1. Device: PC, Tablet, Smartphone with your intranet (LAN or Wi-Fi)

2. Browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, UC browser

FIRST STEP | ACTIVATE VELP ERMES ACCOUNT

A

Go to www.velp.com through your internet browser.

In the Smart Lab menu click on “Configure Your VELP ErmesAccount”. Fill in the form and accept Terms and Conditions.

C

You will receive an email containing your ID, Password and a link to proceed to VELP Ermes authentication at the email address that you entered during the registration.

D

At the first login on VELP Ermes platform a new password will be requested: remember to change it!

SECOND STEP | CONNECT TO YOUR SER 158

Connect the LAN cable to the SER 158 using the LAN connection on the unit.

A

In the ControlPad Select Set-Up → Connectivity and set the IP address, subnetmask and gateway of your intranet.

N.B: Contact your IT specialist toget all your laboratory intranetconnection details.

B

In the ControlPad Select Set-Up → Connectivity and press the down arrow until you reach ermes and select “product registration”.

C

Select YES under the box “EnableSER 158 to transmit on the ERMES platform”. Do not exit from thispage, keep it open.

D

Login on VELP Ermes with your ID and Password received by email, and select “Device Registration”.

E

Enter the SER 158 serial number, product code (you can find these information on the silver label on the back of it) and purchase date. Press Next.

F

Check the ControlPad where you will find the One Time Code (OTC) of four digits. Enter this number into VELP Ermes platform. Press Next and wait for connection.

G

Give a name to your SER 158 and enter the address where your instrument is located. Press Next.

H

Assign your SER 158 to a laboratory or create a new one selecting “LaboratoryManagement”.

I

Now from “Instruments” you canmonitor and control your connected SER 158.
