    Why Are You Here?

Getting the Most from Your Chamber of Commerce

Want to know an easy, affordable way to grow your business? I will share a secretwith you: The Chamber! Chambers of Commerce can be a best friend to your small

    business.

Think about it: The whole purpose behind a Chamber of Commerce is to help small businessessucceed. Over 85% of U.S. Chamber members are small business owners. And what kind of

business are you involved in? This Chamber is a place committed to your success.

Your Board of Directors (Im so impressed with this group of people!) has been hard at work. Wewant to be that group who takes on something unique and new & isnt afraid to experiment withways to improve our organization! To that purpose, we have pulled together a membersurvey. You will be receiving it soon, if you havent already. Take a few minutes. Answer thequestions! Be honest! We will all benefit from your answers.

Have you ever had someone ask you, Why should I join the Chamber? You may already have agreat answer, but lets consider some important ways the Lisle Chamber can help you:

    1. Programming : Most of our programming is intended to help you grow your business. We bringin speakers, offer educational seminars, create informational newsletters, host luncheons, spotlightsuccessful members, sponsor community events, and offer a variety of other programs intended tohelp grow your business.

    2. Networking : One issue many small business owners have is that they are out there on their own, without a whole lot of support from anyone else. But if you get involved, that will change in twosignificant ways. First, you will suddenly be mixing with a host of like -minded people small business owners who, like you, are juggling payroll, taxes, a tough economy, and home life. There will be people to

bounce ideas off of, and ideas from others that can be applied to your business as well. Second, we regularly have business -after -hours events and new member ribbon cutting

parties. These offer you the chance to meet and do business with local businesses.

    3. Lobbying: Legislation of all sorts on the state and national level have profound impacts on local businesses. However, most small businesses have neither the time, resources, understanding, nordesire to lobby on a particular bill. Our Government Affairs Committee is on task meetingregularly and staying on top of political issues that affect us.

According to the United States Chamber of Commerce, Were the loud voice you need to beheard in the political arena, to represent the important issues that affect small businesses. With yourinput, we can make a difference and provide tangible results.

    4. Getting involved : We have a variety of committees that allow you to participate in thiscommunity on issues of importance to you. Make a difference and have your voice heard.

    5. Discounts : Check out all the member -to-member discounts available to you right now ! Thereare so many deals and discounts! And, taking advantage of them supports and builds our businesscommunity.

So yes, joining the chamber of commerce is a very good idea. Even better , is being an activemember !
