EVENT OVERVIEWThe Seminar is organized by the Regional Association of Oil, Gas and Biofuels Sector Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARPEL), through its Gas and Energy Committee, sponsored by the Chile National Oil Company (ENAP) and with the support of the Commission for Regional Energy Integration (CIER), the Chilean Association of Renewable Energy (ACERA), the Bolivian Chamber of Hydrocarbons & Energy (CBHE) and the Association of Electricity Generators of Chile. Latin America and the Caribbean are facing the challenge of optimizing the energy matrix and the energy costs, because its impact on competitiveness and on the social and economic development.

In this context, Natural Gas is considered an alternative of big potential and, in fact, several countries of the region are currently developing infrastructure and LNG projects that will enhance the share of Natural Gas in the energy matrix. In the other hand, the rapid adoption of non-traditional renewables energies in the electric power system and the market dynamics, increasingly demands a comprehensive energy planning, understanding the interaction between the different energy sources.

The Seminar “Development of Natural Gas Markets” will be a series of high-level debates that will address, from the international experience, the different issues regarding the development of natural gas markets, LNG, interaction with the electricity sector and the optimization of the energy matrix.
