Dear Children, This half term I thought I would write to you weekly with some of the school news and updates. You are all capable readers and I am sure that for some of the younger children you could find an adult to read this to you or an older brother or sister! Reading this could take the place of reading your usual reading book. You could even record reading this in your reading record! I know your parents receive the newsletter, but it is quite nice for you to receive one too! Firstly, I would like to say a huge well done to everyone for their hard work this week with their online learning. You should be very proud of yourselves. I have been very impressed with the work coming in and in particular the writing that some of you have been doing. It is not easy to be motivated to write at home, so keep this up and remember to write in your books with the same presentation that you would if you were writing in your book at school! It was great to see so many of you in our assemblies, as always I am sorry I cannot pick everyone to answer questions but if you do not get to tell me what you wanted to, you can always send a message via seesaw under your Going Forth Activity. I hope you have a restful weekend and the adults at home get to have a break from juggling home schooling and work. Star Teacher of the Week

Each week I will be presenting a teacher with a Star of the Week certificate. Last week Miss Julian was awarded a certificate for her resilience and stamina when there were some complications with the recording of her lessons! Miss Julian did not give up, even when things were becoming a bit difficult and frustrating for her. In Assembly this week, I chose Mr Earley as our Star Teacher, as he has been very helpful and supportive to others since we have returned to work. Mr Earley came to my rescue when the assembly crashed on Monday! He was very calm and showed that he could use his learning skill of logic to work out what had gone wrong.

The Big Garden Bird Watch The RSPB have launched a new Garden Birdwatch. Can you use your daily walk to search for birds? Follow the link below to sign up to this extra activity. https://www.rspb.org.uk/get-involved/activities/birdwatch/

There is variety of other activities available on the website if you have time to spare!

Do Keep personal information private Speak kindly and be polite to others

when online Tell a trusted adult if you see something

that upsets you or somebody says something that upsets you

Use passwords to help protect what you are doing – you can share your password with a parent

Always check with a trusted adult before using a new device or downloading a new app

Use the internet sensibly – you can use it to find out new information, to help with your school work and to have fun

Don’t Share personal information on the

internet with others – even if they ask. Say “I am not allowed to tell you that”

Accept friend requests from strangers or people you don’t know

Be mean or nasty to other people online Spend too much time on your device –

remember to have regular breaks Use your device too close to bedtime –

you and your device need to ‘switch off’ Copy other peoples work – you can use

their ideas to help you with your work though

Keep something that upsets you secret – tell a trusted adult

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ASSEMBLY

In today’s assembly I was sad to see that children were drawing on the screen. We record each assembly and are alerted to who is making the marks.

Four children’s names were recorded – unfortunately, if this happens again we will have to ask you to leave

the assembly. The rules are there for a reason and we should follow them appropriately.

This is the same for emoji’s. If you put up an emoji, you come straight to the front of the screen so this can be very distracting. Please save all these functions for when you are on your Zoom calls with family and

friends.
