Sucker RodsSBS manufactures high-quality sucker rods according to API Specification 1 IB, latest edition, and hasbeen granted the use of API monogram.Since 50 years SBS supplies Sucker Rods to the oil producing industry. Over that period of time we haveconsistently improved the quality of our Sucker Rods, with our extensive experience and engineeringcapabilities.We guarantee high quality standards by state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques and continuous qualitycontrol inspection from steel melting to the finished product. As a result our products satisfy the moststringent metallurgical and mechanical requirements in today's oilfield operations.The premium quality of SBS Sucker Rods is well documented by their use in well completions the worldover.SBS manufactures currently four types of suckerrods made from different alloys in steel grades C,К and D, as defined by API Spec 11B, latestedition.SBS's couplings are available in four types andare manufactured in compliance with API Spec1 IB Class Т and Class SM.SBS Type GLIDER® and SBS GLIDER® ELwere developed for harsh pumping conditionsIncoming bars are straightened and EddyCurrent tested to detect imperfections beforeprocessing. Any bar with irregularities thatcompromises the quality of the finished rod isautomatically rejected.Bar ends are upset by automatic High Speed HotForging in a series of operations under precisetemperature control and adjusted in a way toensure the most favourable grain orientation.

Rods are Heat Treated over their full lengthwith automatic temperature control.

Forged bars are cleaned to remove any remainingscale. Before threading the forged bars are shot-peened over their full length.

Benefits obtained by Shot-Peening are the resultof the effect of compressive stress. This surfaceprestress is a vital physical factor of SBS rod'ssuccess. The surface remains in residualcompression increasing resistance to fatiguefailures, corrosion fatigue, stress corrosioncracking and hydrogen induced cracking and ishighly recommended for Progressing CavityPump installations.

Upset pin blanks are precision machined anddimensions gauged. Fully-rolled cold-formedAPI threads are applied that ensure a precise,smooth reinforced thread structure. Machiningand threading is done in one operation to ensureaccurate alignment of pin and rod.

An inhibitor-lubricant is applied to each pin,coupling is mounted, external thread protectorson the external thread and internal threadprotectors in the open of the coupling areinstalled.

SBS-Coating protects rods from atmosphericcorrosion in storage and corrosive downholefluids in a short-term basis. The two componentcoating has excellent adhesion to the steel rodThe excellent mechanical strength andexceptional abrasion resistance ensure that SBSCoating provides effective corrosion protectioneven under heavy-duty conditions.

Because of the smooth surface of the coated rodsless paraffin deposition can be expected. Thatmeans less Polished Rod Load and less energyconsumption and longer service life of the rods.

After straightness control packing is done withspecial care in order to avoid handling damageduring transport to the well location.

Throughout the manufacturing process samplesare selected from every heat of steel anddestructively tested to determine mechanicalproperties in accordance with API Specification.Every threaded pin is checked for dimensionalaccuracy using API approved gauges.

The Quality Assurance Program starts with thecontrol of raw material and continuous throughmanufacturing and testing to meet API Spec11B, latest edition.

Transport and Packaging

Packing is done with special care in order to avoid damage during transport. Sucker rods are placed inrugged wooden frames, in round recesses spaced to prevent them from moving and damaging each other.Rod ends are staggered for optimum utilization of space. Two strong lifting eyes are provided for loading,hooks or slings must be used for all loading operations.On request sucker rods can be delivered packaged in wooden boxes

CouplingsSBS Sucker Rod Couplings are available in box x box or box x pin styles in all sucker rod sizes andcombination of sizes. Couplings are available in API Fullsize and Slimhole outside diameters. Onrequest fullsize couplings can be provided with Wrench Flats . Extra Long Couplings (Length 5 in,127mm) and Oversize Couplings are available on request.All types are manufactured from through-hardened Moly.-Nickel-Alloy Steel (AISI 8630 mod.) and meetAPI Spec 11B, latest edition. Couplings made from other materials are available on request.Threads of SBS Couplings are cold formed in a single pass only, produced by displacement of materialrather than by removal of material as in the cut thread. Cold forming (rolling) the threads results in acompressive stress at the root of the thread, rearranges metallic structure, reinforces and smoothes threadroot and flanks that resist corrosion and facilitates proper joint make up.

SBS Coupling Selection Guide:

SBS Class Тcouplings with a material hardness of 56-62 HRAand a surface finish of 125 micro-in. Ra(3.2 urnRa). Type Т couplings are recommendedfor installations with mildly corrosive or mildlycorrosive/abrasive conditions.

SBS Class SMwith a nickel-chromium coating, which is flame-sprayed and fused to the coupling surface. CoatingHardness of min.595HV20o (40-45 HRC) andSurface Finish of 63 micro-m.Ra(1.6 uRa).Type SM is recommended for well conditionswhere severe wear and corrosion is a problem.

SBS Type Sis a Type Т with high frequency hardened surfaceof 400-450HV20o (40-45 HRC), not spec, by API.

SBS Type GLIDER®features a spray metal coating with extreme lowroughness achieved by SBS SuperFinishing with8.0 micro-in.Ra (0.2 umRa).

SBS Type GLIDER®ELis an extended SBS-GLIDER® up to a lengthof 5 in (127mm) with the same extreme lowcoefficient of friction on the coupling surface.Both are recommended for harsh wellconditions where coupling/tubing wear is aproblem.

Sinker BarsSBS Sinker Bars are the essential part of the SBS Sinker Bar String (Sinker Bar/Sinker BarGuide/Sinker Bar Stabilizer) to manage downhole rod string buckling. Sinker bars replace the sucker rodsimmediately above the pump providing concentrated weight to the lower part of the sucker rod string

Sinker Bars• keep the rod string straight in tension by lowering the "neutral point"• reduce sucker rod failures in the lower portion of the string• minimize sucker rod buckling on the downstroke to reduce rod/tubing/coupling wear• centralize the valve rod of insert pumps in the tubing string to reduce wear on valve rod/tubing• assist in keeping the valve rod rigid and directly centred to promote proper plunger fall to

minimize damage on valve rod, plunger and barrel of subsurface pump

SBS's Recommendation to use Sinker Bars• in deviated rod pumped wells• at high viscosity oil• in crooked wells

SBS Sinker Bars are manufactured from hot rolled bars in Grade 1 and 2 ace. API Spec 1 IB, latestedition. Sinker bars are furnished with API sucker rod threads on each end and with wrench flats on bothends. Bars are available in API standard lengths of 25 ft (7.62 m) and 30 ft (9.14 m)*.

Sinker Bar Guides

SBS Spiral Rod Guides are manufactured with large smooth flow passages milled in a spiral pattern toprovide a 360° wearing surface. Rod GuidesSBS Rod Guides are available in two types, Type S and Type H, each Type is equipped with four wings(Straight or slanted). Guides are injection molded directly onto the sucker rod. Properly spaced SBSmolded-on plastic rod guides serve to centralize the sucker rod string to minimize rod/tubing/couplingwear and combined with a rod rotator total paraffin scraping action.Guides are manufactured from different materials, which are selected depending on factors such asbottom hole temperature, fluid properties, presence of abrasives and cloud point (point in the well whereparaffin begins to form).On request Snap-On Guides for field installation are available.

Guide Type SType S is made from Ryton (PPSPolypheylenesulphide reinforced with glass orcarbon fibre to maximize performance in harshenvironments) and can withstand operatingtemperature up to 204°C (400°F).Straight and slanted wings available.Length.89mm, Wings are tilted 12° relative to theaxis of the rod stringThe angle of 12° provided broad cutting action andwhen coupled with increased turbulence, paraffinbuild-up is reduced dramatically-Rod rotator isrecommended.

Guide Type HThis Type is available in two different materials andtwo different designs.Length 9" (230mm)Recommended for high side loads.The wide wings and the streamlined shape give thisguide excellent flow characteristic in high volumewells. Wide wings provide outstanding bearingsurface area for wear protection on rods, rodcoupling and tubing in deviated wells.The slanted Type is the most efficient andeconomical means of paraffin removal, but it stillshould be used with a rod rotator to be mosteffective.
