the president is a living symbol of the nation.

Also as the Chief of State the president performs many ceremonial duties such as awarding medals and throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game

Chief Executive As Chief Executive, the

President's job is to enforce federal laws, treaties, and federal court hearings, develop federal policies, to prepare the national budget, and to appoint federal officials

The president is assisted by his cabinet in the duties of Chief Executive

chief administrator of the federal government. He is responsible for all federal departments, including cabinet departments, such as the State Department, and independent agencies, such as NASA.
